Voting rules
I would like to see an amendment to the constitution regarding the no vote problem we have. I think that as an owner you have a responsibility to be active in league discussions just as much as you making your lineup legal every week. Here is a proposal:
All league polls must be open for at least 14 days. If after 14 days, less than 20 teams have voted, rule changes will pass with the following vote totals
8 out of 10 (80%)
9 out of 12 (75%)
10 out of 15 (67%)
11 out of 16 (68.75%)
12 out of 18 (67%)
Let's discuss before a poll goes up. Do we have support for this?
Also, I know I pulled the "for the good of the league" card out for the first time, and I didn't mean to get all Stalin on you guys but this was a big deal that needed attention and I think we've been very lenient about this for a while now. It's time for a change. I hope I didn't piss anyone off too much with that. In the end it didn't matter. Like I said we have to start somewhere and I felt this was a good a time as any to place some urgency on it.NYYFans Fantasy Baseball

Re: Voting rules
I think it makes perfect sense

Years ago it seemed the ownership was more active. If people want to play but not participate, then we need to do something to keep things from languishing. It's ok not to vote on a trade, where only objections count, but for other things, we need participation.

Re: Voting rules
That's kind of why I did that. I think this is the third time that I recall having to beg for votes. I even saw I started a thread about voting a few weeks ago. It's time for a change I feel.

Re: Voting rules
I disagree. I think there should be penalties for absent management.

Re: Voting rules
What do you disagree with, changing the decision after two weeks to the percentage of voters? I don't think we should penalize anyone, just make it so their vote no longer matters and if the league rules are going to be discussed those who take time to discuss and vote should be able to have their opinion matter.

Re: Voting rules
I think the voting period should be two weeks. Heck, it could be longer, the decision doesn't take affect until the next season. I don't think that the percentage of the league needed to pass the rule should change. I think people should be held responsible for voting. I also think that things should be posted on the CBS League Message Board alerting members that there is an issue. Sometimes things get lost within the forum threads.
For example, I was away on vacation with some internet access (via my droid). I missed those threads (actually, I saw them and a few mistake threads regarding the vote) and then forgot about them, as I was going to address when I got home. It wasn't until the threads were bumped that I remembered they were out there. Eric's VOTE message on the league message board seemed to prompt some to vote.
My main point is that we need all people to be active all year, and that is not the case.

I don't think Steve should have a vote. He's a paradox.

Re: Voting rules
How many votes do we have to have to add this voting rule amendment?
