    China and the United States are still in the top 2 in both the gold and total medals race.

    China leads all nations with 17 gold medals and 30 total medals while the United States are second with 12 golds and 29 total.

    7 different nations have 10+ medals.

    The biggest surprise so far in Week 1 is North Korea who are in the Top 5 in gold medals with 4.

    After Day 5, 49 different nations have at least one total medal won while 22 of the 49 have at least one gold medal.

    Gutted for Magnussen in the 100m freestyle. Unfortunately for us Adrian just pipped him at the post, great race though. Really starting to look like we might end up with only one goal medal in the pool these games.

    Really getting into the Water Polo and Volleyball these games. A real shame what happened in the Badminton though.

    Great Britain is climbing up the gold medal charts.

    Peter Robert Russell Wilson gets the gold in men's double trap shooting and BAILLIE Tim and STOTT Etienne won gold in the Men's Canoe Double Slalom event.

    The Britons have four gold medals, tied with North Korea for fourth most.

    Congrats to Phelps, for his 3rd straight Olympic 200 IM gold, Rebecca Soni, for a gold and bettering the WR she set a day earlier in the 200M breaststroke, and Tyler Clary for gold in the 200M backstroke. Ryan Lochte won a silver and a bronze, but his expectations at these games I'm sure were much higher. Also, have to give a lot of props to Gabby Douglas for her gymnastics gold in the lady's all around.

    P.S. The U.S. has now tied China for most golds.

    What a day 6 for Team United States of America.

    They took home eight medals including six golds to lead the Total Medal tally with 37 medals.

    Meanwhile, China had a subpar Day 6 with one gold medal and four medals to show for on Thursday.

    South Korea has the third most gold medals with 7.

    10 nations now have 10+ total medals.

    After Day 6, 49 different nations have won at least one medal with 23 of them having at least one gold.
