2012 Andruw Jones Performance Thread
saw the guy didn't have one.
looking at andruw's stats from the 2010 and 11, i'm really surprised that he's on the yanks playing on the bench. he could be a starter for a lot of teams, and he would crank 25-30 easily IMO.
hes got my vote as the everyday LF for now, DH when brett is back.

You make a good point ... he seems to be fine against RHP (last year he often looked like Pedro Cerrano before Jobu got involved), and I could see playing him every day.

Re: 2012 Andruw Jones Performance Thread
this is a pretty unorthodox way of evaluating talent, but take andruws amount of homers and ABs in the last two years, and prorate them to a full season (around 500 ABs), he would have been on pace for 35+ home runs, with an OPS around .850.
thats production, and production that every team should take advantage of.

A monster game for Jones today, who proved that he still mashes LHP. 2-5 w/ 2 HR
And he played that cheap wall about as good as it can possibly be played.

Part-time work suits Andruw well, but I hope he starts in the 2nd game as well. He likes that wall.
Oh man....

Perfect guy to come off the bench - has adapted well to part-time role, good power, decent defense, veteran presence. Hope we hold on to him for a few more years, he can have a little mini-career as a backup with the Yanks. Definitely a good guy to have on the team.

Re: 2012 Andruw Jones Performance Thread
This guy needs to be an everyday player in the second half.
You want to occasionally give him a blow verses SP's he's struggled against, fine, he's not a young man and I understand he needs some days off like Arod and the other veteran players, but he needs to be a starter and that shouldn't change when Gardner gets back.
Jones leads the league in HR's per at bat and he is playing terrific on defense as well. He is having a career resurgence and playing at the level that made him a perennial all-star. He looks to be in great condition and right now he is an absolute monster in the box.

That ball he crushed last night was above his shoulders. I wish I had a dollar for every guy who's swung at one of them and came up with nuthin'.

Re: 2012 Andruw Jones Performance Thread
Not even about being overexposed. I don't even think he wants to play full time.
If he did, he'd have a full time job somewhere, quite possibly still putting up HOF calibre numbers.

Re: 2012 Andruw Jones Performance Thread
I agree about him not wanting to play full time because I think he may be a bit lazy lol..but I don't think it's any lock he'd be putting up HOF numbers. last time he played full time was 2007 and his dropoff from the year before was huge...and 138 strikeouts? yikes. I think he's a good bench player but I don't think it would translate to good full time anymore even if he wanted to...

He actually said he wanted to win a full time job with the Yankees this year when he resigned.
Win one for The Boss.
