Re: 2012 Wimbledon Tennis Tournament Thread
Murray breaks in the first game. Didn't see that coming.

Re: 2012 Wimbledon Tennis Tournament Thread
I didn't realize it before, but Murray is 8-7 in his career against Federer. So it wouldn't be surprising at all if Murray won this.

Federer is having trouble putting away those overhead slams.

Fed takes the 2nd set. He was having a lot of trouble with his service games that set, but he jumped at his break chance in the final game.

Federer just doesn't look like Federer.
He's still the better player though and I fully expect him to get better as this match goes on.

Re: 2012 Wimbledon Tennis Tournament Thread
Not that this comes as a shock or anything because he is a professional athlete, but Andy Murray's GF is a total smokeshow.

Re: 2012 Wimbledon Tennis Tournament Thread
Two signs Murray is about to disappoint his British mates.
1. Federer now at -500+ (aka, 80+% to win) according to Vegas.
2. Announcers are talking about power of positive thinking.

Re: 2012 Wimbledon Tennis Tournament Thread
That's it! Fed stayed aggressive throughout the match and broke out the vintage forehand after the 2nd set.
I feel a little bad for Murray though. He played his heart out today but just lost to a better player.

Re: 2012 Wimbledon Tennis Tournament Thread
I'm glad that Federer was able to win another major. I was wondering whether he could due to Nadal and Djokovic's recent dominance.
I hope Murray is able to win Wimbledon next year."They're going to send me back to Omaha, and I don't even live there." - Rube Baker

Murray gave his heart and soul but he's just not good enough.
He didn't even have to get past Nadal this time.

So happy for Federer. I'm glad he won another major. I wonder if he can carry this over through the summer to Queens in September.
I'm very very happy Nadal lost so early. That made the tourney for me. I can't stand him.

Re: 2012 Wimbledon Tennis Tournament Thread
Andy Murray, take a bow. You had a great run this season. Hopefully, you win a major before your career is over.
As for Roger Federer, congratulations on another Wimbledon win. Two questions for the Swiss legend though: 1. Can he win an Olympic Gold Medal in London 2012? 2. Can he reach 20 major titles? It's not the 27 World Championships that drive the New York Yankees. It's the 28th.
Every year is The Year. Go Yankees.
