I don't think even that would be sufficient. We just don't have the pieces that Seattle would want in exchange for him.

I don't know about that. I think if you throw Nova into that package I posted above, Seattle probably takes it, unless they just don't want to move Felix for anything short of a heist.

Would have liked Garza. But, let's be serious here. Our pitching is not the problem. Let's say we got Josh Johnson or Josh Beckett and every time they pitch they end up losing because they gave up one run then what?

Seriously, our problem right now is really our hitting. I wouldn't wanna trade anyone to Boston for Beckett anyway. But, that might be just because I HATE Beckett with a passion. Too much of a Head Hunter for me.

Two teams told ESPN.com's Jayson Stark that the Marlins thought they had traded Lee to the Yankees today. However, Lee wouldn't waive his no-trade clause.

The Marlins ... you mean the Phillies, right?

Or do you mean the Yankees almost had Josh Johnson?

    EDIT: Here's Stark's tweet:
Heard from 2 clubs in last 30 minutes that #Marlins thought they had Carlos Lee traded to #Yankees - but he wouldn't waive no-trade (again)

Does this mean Tex's MRI was bad news?

    I hope not.

No, sounds like more of a depth move, but Tex will miss at least a few games so Lee would've filled in right away giving Tex extra time to heal.

Let's just hope it means that they wanted more hitting no more no less.

Yeah that seem like it, I just checked the injury update thread in the players forum and the MRI didn't show anything serious, just some inflammation and they gave him a cortisone shot.

But sometimes that can linger if you don't give it a chance to heal completely, so I wonder if they would have placed Tex on the 15 Day DL to make room for Lee had he not vetoed the trade.

For the M's, definitely - for the Yankees, that would be stupid. It would have made sense if Felix were cost-controlled. At over $18 million a year, he's not.

An ace at $18 million a year is a bargain. But, I know what you mean with our overall budget and trying to get under $189. Still, having C.C. and King Felix together might make us change our stance??

With the Yankees stated goal of lowering payroll to $189 million, trading for Felix makes no sense. The cons outweigh the pros - not only are you trading two quality, cost-effective young starters (and weakening overall rotation depth), but it also means the chances of retaining Cano/Granderson become slim to none.

That's much too steep a price to pay for any pitcher.

You would think that Lee would want to be in the middle of a pennant race instead of playing for 2 bad teams during the same year. plus, it's not like Lee is tearing it up in Miami right now either.

He'll be begging for a job next year, but he's made his money.

By the looks of it, he's definitely been tearing up the post-game spread table.

Maybe he met a hot broad on South Beach and he doesn't wanna leave.

I know these guys get girls everywhere, but some of those girls on SB are supremely hot.

All kidding aside, I can see why a professional baseball player wouldn't want to leave Miami, that place is swarming with hot women walking around in bikinis, lots of gorgeous latino girls too ... for a guy like Carlos Lee (rich, famous and latino), that place is nirvana.
