The Twins GM who traded Hardy and Ramos is a different guy than who's there now. That was Bill Smith, the new Twins GM is Terry Ryan, the guy who built the good Twins teams of the 00s.

Flowers reminds me of Ianetta. Good OBP skills and some pop. Not a bad player to have.

Flowers has not shown this OBP and pop in the ML - in 82 games, his line is .184/.294/.338/.632 - admittedly, he has not played regularly in the ML.

His AAA numbers are significantly better, but I have to wonder if he would translate.

More importantly, would he be an upgrade from what we have now?

The real point of trading Upton would be to get a good return and to fill certain needs. The best trades are the ones where both teams walk away with a good haul. If all AZ is looking to do is to loot and pillage any team for Upton, a trade is not likely to happen. I don't doubt that there are teams prepared to give up a lot for Justin, but he's not exactly lighting it up this year. So I'm not sure they're in a position to rob anyone blind for him.

Which is what Upton is, and the DBacks would want a bunch of spects back period. They don't have to trade Upton now or later really. They aren't too far from being the leaders of the NL West talent wise.

They're improving. While ESPN is 100% sub-100 IQ jocks spouting counterfactual cliches about the game, MLB Network occasionally does make factual, insightful statements even if 90% of their content is stupid filler as well.

Yea as far as I'm concerned I'd give the Marlins basically whatever they want for Stanton. The only question is do we have enough to give to make the deal work on their end.

Ultimately I highly doubt it would happen. They'd be fools to deal Stanton he is exactly the type of player you build a young team around. If they're going to deal a big name it should probably be Hanley.

Ivan Nova, at least in my opinion is untouchable.

I agree in principle, but I don't feel we're in a position to lose Nova right now. Probably still do it.

Love Stanton. Only conern is that he appears fragile.
