The "Obituaries that don't warrant their own thread" thread
Bluegrass great Doc Watson died yesterday at age 89. A brilliant guitarist, and a favorite of mine.

I understand how this thread came to exist but I find it somewhat callous and disrespectful. Just my opinion. Maybe it's just the title that seems somehow wrong.

A favorite of mine. Tennesee Stud is the song I think of when I hear his name.

"Death Notices"?
That's what this is like - the one or two line death notices that go in the newspaper, vs the more notable people who get a photo and story.

Tennesse Stud is a great song. Doc Watson played at my freshman orientation at Hofstra in 1973.

I'm so sorry to read about this. I'd never in my life watched Desperate Housewives but I loved this woman's performance as Dolores Landingham on The West Wing. She was wonderful. The death of her character on The West Wing came as such a shock and now the actress herself has passed on.LOS ANGELES (AP) - Kathryn Joosten, a character actress best known as the crotchety, nosey Karen McCluskey on"Desperate Housewives" and the president's secretary on "The West Wing," has died. She was 72.
Joosten, who had battled lung cancer for years, died Saturday in Los Angeles, her publicist Nadine Jolson said.
I looked at her IMDB profile and while she was mainly known for these two roles, she was certainly a working actress in many different projects right up to her passing.
Rest in peace, Mrs. Landingham.
