Yes! RvP coming to Old Trafford is a very good thing. I know it has just been exhibition but the tour matches have severely lacked creativity and scoring.

But I also say that Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United need a holding/defensive midfielder.

Anderson is injury prone. Michael Carrick can intercept passes, but can't tackle. Darren Fletcher hasn't been playing much due to illness.

As for Robin van Persie signing with Manchester United, Fergie has tons of weapons up front with RvP, Wayne Rooney, Chicharito, Danny Welbeck and Federico Macheda. With that move, it spells the end of Dimitar Berbatov at Old Trafford.

A front three of van Persie and Rooney in the strikeforce with Shinji Kagawa and Paul Scholes coming off the bench supporting them in-between is pretty good.

Sir Alex may still need a DM; but even the current squad is very formidable with the RvP addition. Vidic coming back is a bolster to the back and Anderson, despite being injury prone has actually impressed during the exhibition with his work rate (at least imo) and could move back into that supporting role with Nani being the creative swing man. RvP, Walbeck & Rooney up front should provide plenty of punch with Chicharito as a sniper and Kagawa as a bit of wild card (only because I haven't really seen him play).

Ferdinand is dipping, but Smalling, Evans and Jones (who is about my favorite right now!) having another season to work together, Jones likely won't need to make so many runs with all the fire power up front and can stay home a bit more.

Overall, the RvP signing makes so much sense and makes every other position seem that much better.

I think this could be the lineup for Sir Alex Ferguson...

    Formation (4-1-2-1-2 or 4-4-2 Diamond)

    GK: David De Gea

    LB: Patrice Evra

    CD: Nemanja Vidic

    CD: Rio Ferdinand

RB: Phil Jones or Rafael da Silva

    LW: Ashley Young or Nani

CM: Michael Carrick, Anderson or Tom Cleverley

RW: Antonio Valencia, Nani or Shinji Kagawa

AM: Shinji Kagawa, Tom Cleverley or Paul Scholes

    ST: Wayne Rooney or Chicharito

ST: Robin van Persie or Danny Welbeck
