How about a Chat room?

Hey I know i'm new to ths forum, and the site does look great but if I may make a suggiestion, how about installing a NYYF Chat room on the site? I think it would be a great way for all of us to interact on game days, and to help the out of towners like me with LIVE updates, or for the times i do get a YES broadcast on MLBN to provide real-time predictions, what I'd do in this situation etc. Thoughts?

We used to have a Chat Room, but it was discontinued due to problems with the server and/or trying to keep it running smoothly. Discussions on bringing it back occured a couple of years ago when we went to a new server and an upgraded platform, and the decision was no.

The easy way is to create an IRC channel on a public server and then have a page on NYYfans load a java IRC client that puts you directly in the channel. Result is zero server load / bandwidth impact to NYYfans. The only issue is nickname conflicts because you can't guarantee the NYYF handle will be available. Fix is to assign a prefix "NYYF_" to each nickname, eg "NYFF_Bub"

Seems like you could use a room pour les chats. Just toss them in there, close the door, let them walk themselves.
