New Yankee Stadium Beer Policy

so just got the upcoming homestand newsletter from my season ticket rep and in it, it says that beer will stop being sold at the conclusion of the 5th inning or at management discretion. also says that in the bleachers there is a one beer limit per person per transaction. i mean people can obviously go to separate stalls and get beer. its interesting to see the yankees trying to crack down on the sale of alcohol in the stadium, considering thats where the big money is when it comes to stadium events.

I posted this in the Bleacher Creature thread last Monday night. These new rules were put in effect since Monday the 30th, possibly during the Detroit series. All because two drunk 21 year olds from Arizona wearing Red Sox hats couldn't take the heat and kept picking fights in Section 328 and one Securitas employee couldn't be bothered to do anything about it.

The new beer policy got nothing to do with the girls fight in 300 level or section 203.


It has alot to do with a drunk Yankees fan who bitched slap a sergeant when he was being escorted out of the stadium - from section 236.


That idiot was being hog-tied and it was funnier in person.


There were more any enough drunks in left field bleachers than any where in the stadium. 203 is holding its own since most of the seats are belong to season ticket holder and they know better.

Most of pre-warning and escort out fans are drunk and stubhub buyers.

I don't know what's dumber. Acting like a drunken idiot in public or spending a king's ransom to get drunk enough to act like a douchebag. The policy doesn't affect me at all. I prefer to catch a nice buzz before the game before even entering the gates. I'll maybe buy one beer inside and coast the rest of the time enjoying the game. From the time I was a kid to now (I'm 43) I could never understand the mentality of others to get totally wasted during a ballgame.

I won't go into specifics on here for a few reasons. But from what I was told, that fight did indirectly result in the new bleacher rules.

Why would a fight in section 328 affect the policy of the bleacher sections?

And thus, the reason for the original design of the stadium to have fairly narrow access points to the bleachers. For the ability to easily separate the bleachers from the main stadium in case they need to replicate the no alcohol polices from the old stadium. It has it's own bathrooms, entry and exit points, etc... the people that would be really pissed are those folks paying their $125 for Batter's Eye seats and not be able to enjoy a cold one.

And those access points can be gated to be sure that people DON'T get out to buy outside the bleacher area. OR bring any in after the cutoff.

Oh, and to the poster that asked why spend a kings ransom on beer to get that drunk- you can drink outside and have enough to look reasonably sober at the gate, but full effect hits once inside.

I don't think they would either lose beer sales or lower the face value of those tickets. Instead, they would make a multimillion construction project out of relocating the entry points for those 40 or so seats.

Probably already have a secret access stairway direct from the Mohegan Sun for just this reason. Thus, they can charge an EXTRA $50 for access to that in order to get to your $125 seats!

Whichever way you cut it, you're still a loser if your goal is to get totally wasted to watch a baseball game. Having a few drinks and/or cold ones to catch a buzz in or out of the Stadium while enjoying yourself with your friends catching a game is one thing. But to get totally inebriated? What's the sense in that?

You are from the Jersey Shore and don't know the sense in that?!.....Just Kidding. I think it tends to be people who are not really fans of the game that get inebriated and are just there to say I went to a Yankee game and have an excuse to get drunk on a Tuesday night etc. Also when stubhub has tickets for $1ech, you are going to have a different type of crowd in the building.

I don't think cutting off beer 2innings is really going to make a difference nor does only allowing one sale per customer. Do they not remember the bleachers had no beer and there were still fights?

Because one Securitas employee was completely not doing his job. In a job setting like this one, when one employee is so blatantly out of line you get rid of him and put the heat on the remaining employees.

The reputation of the Bleacher Creatures only gives them more reasons. The bleachers have always taken heat from security, even when we weren't the problem.
