Re: 2012 Dewayne Wise Performance Thread
You're quick. I certainly hope we're going back to 12 pitchers. When Gardner comes off the DL, Nix should go down and Wise stay up.
I read the news today...oh boy.

Dude was raking in AAA. Good to see him getting a chance. Nice double tonight.

Any offense he provides is a bonus. I'm happy to have someone who can actually catch the ball.

You mean Cashman finally called up an outfielder? That should have happened two weeks ago!

Re: 2012 Dewayne Wise Performance Thread
I hope we don't lose him after Gardner comes off the DL. He would be be an ideal 4th OF but there is probably no room for him given our platoon/rotating DH situation.

Re: 2012 Dewayne Wise Performance Thread
Yeah, I heard that too, but I'm still skeptical. Seems to me the Yankees took advantage of the 7-day DL since concussion was one (just one) of the issues reported. But that doesn't mean he'll be back on day 8. If they're holding back Brett Gardner, we shouldn't expect them to be aggressive about bringing back Chavez.

He should stay up. Ibanez should be cut.

Re: 2012 Dewayne Wise Performance Thread
Not really. He's pretty much a defensive replacement whose totally expendable. He has a career 63 OPS+. I wouldn't let a couple good weeks of AAA by a 34 year old fool you. He was the right guy to call up but he's easily lost.
His one claim to fame was the awesome catch in the 9th inning of Bherle's perfect game right after he came in as - surpirse - a defensive replacement.Baseball is life;
the rest is just details.

Re: 2012 Dewayne Wise Performance Thread
I'm sorry I'm no fan of Raul but cutting him for a player who have never once hit better than .250 in 10 seasons, has never once been good enough to a mass 200 PAs in a season and oh by the way in 10 years has amassed more SBs 36 than BBs 34 in his career is not the way to go.
Wise is the perfect 5th OF on a 2nd division NL club, nothing more nothing less.Baseball is life;
the rest is just details.

Re: 2012 Dewayne Wise Performance Thread
I'd prefer to play the hot hand and have a player that can pinch run and play plus defensive.
Ibanez doesn't offer anything offensively, defensively, or as a baserunner.

Re: 2012 Dewayne Wise Performance Thread
Does DeWayne have a "hot hand"?
Well, if he does, pick him up for a fantasy league. Releasing players for a "hot hand" doesn't work so well in the real world of big contracts where players cannot just be picked up and released as their hands get hot and cold.
