Re: May 2012 Minor League Thread
If we're assuming that they look at strictly how many innings pitched, and not pitch counts per innings, yeah. But hopefully they take that into account since a 5 pitch inning isn't going to be as stressful as a 20+ pitch inning.
But then again, this is an organization who employed a trainer who's experience was working with senior citizens, so who knows what goes on in their heads?

Which minor leaguer is most exciting?
"Tyler Austin," said Brian Cashman.
Why?
"Look at his numbers," the Yankees GM said. "He is having a monster year."
Austin, 20, is hitting .323 with 13 homers and 44 RBIs for Single-A Charleston. His OPS is over .1000. He's mostly played right field this season and a little first base and DH.
The Yankees picked him in the 13th round of the 2010. He is 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds. He hits and fields right-handed.
And he has the GM very excited about his future.

Is Tyler Austin's season for real? What do you see his future being and what kind of potential might he have?
J.J. Cooper: I think so and some people in the industry do too. He projects as a middling corner OF defensively with a good arm and enough bat that you don't care too much about his defense.

It's comments like this that make me scratch my head. Austin has played less than 50 games in the outfield so how can they make such an evaluation now? IMO, it's why you have to take such comments from sports MSM with a grain of salt as they give opinions without much behind them.
It's all Cashman's fault!

Re: May 2012 Minor League Thread
so they should just wait to see what his defense becomes in a few years or answer a question about how he looks now? if he gets faster, or starts reading flyballs better, or his athleticsm improves then you reevaluate. scouting is a process of evaluation and reevaluation."Williams could be the Yankees' next great homegrown center fielder. Murphy, Segedin, and Montgomery make FSL All-Star game. Murphy hasn't hit this season yet he still made the all-star team.
It's all Cashman's fault!

Re: May 2012 Minor League Thread
Is Charleston known to be a pitcher's park? Austin, Sanchez, KDL, Bichette and Culver all have significantly better numbers on the road (Gumbs slightly better, Mason about the same).
Don't tease me, you know what I do for a living.
