Re: Bryce Harper called up
I have a soft spot for the Nats, and get to watch a few of their games. He has a great arm on him, and should be good to watch for many years to come. Wouldn't it be good if he came to the Yankees in the future?

Re: Bryce Harper called up
Here, here.....I'm old enough to be Harper's grandmother - with a few years to spare.

I never thought I'd be glued to the TV watching the Nats, but between this guy and Strasburg, the only thing you need is some popcorn and a Pepsi. The whole team seems to be hitting their stride. Great to see.
Speaking of Strasburg, anyone here up to the task of finishing one of these?

His approach is off the charts. Reminds me of a healthy Heyward as a rookie.

Re: Bryce Harper called up
Three walks tonight. Phils didn't seem to want to give anything to hit.

Re: Bryce Harper called up
I hear you guys about watching the games. In fact when I was driving up from NC last week I had gone through the the broadcast area and got to listen to a large chunk of the Nats game. I'm almost a bandwagon fan just cuz of Harper and Stras. I've always loved Gio Gonzalez and Tyler Clippard, Zimmerman is awesome, Werth should be, and I like Morse alot. they are a fun team.

Re: Bryce Harper called up
He looks dumb as a brick, but that was an intelligent steal.
Hamels paid no attention to him once he got to 3rd, slowly builds up a ridiculous lead, acts nonchalantly and takes advantage of a slow pick off move in the blink of an eye.Fistpumping like a champion.

Re: Bryce Harper called up
Hamels must be even dumber than Harper looks, he just admitted to throwing at Harper. Why not just call up the league office and ask to be suspended for 8 games?

Re: Bryce Harper called up
I couldn't believe what I heard this morning. Stevie Wonder could see that Pedro and Clemens were throwing at guys, but did they admit it?! Whatever happened to "I was just tryin' to go inside and it got away from me". If Harper was lacking for confidence before this happend ( and he's not), he sure isn't now. "I'm 19 and this guy who has a WS ring is throwing at me. Must be scared".

I hate the whole retaliation/protect your teammate" mentality. You give a guy a free pass to first base and it comes back to bite you in the ERA. You get even by doing what Harper did - make him pay by doing something to score a run. What if that steal home was the only run of the game for either team?September 28, 2008 - the day the HOF got a wake-up Moose call.

Re: Bryce Harper called up
The steal of home was even more amazing. I love that Cole feels like he's officially Major League Baseball's welcoming committee but why do you have to make it public? That's going to cost him a start. If I were a Phils fan I'd be pissed off but as a baseball fan, it really excites me for future matchups, this will definitely be worth watching.

“Cole Hamels says he’s old school? He’s the polar opposite of old school. He’s fake tough. He thinks he’s going to intimidate us after hitting our 19-year rookie who’s eight games into the big leagues? He doesn’t know who he’s dealing with.”

Harper = Baseball's Axel Foley. He'll never get another milestone like that one. So what? His whole career is a milestone.

Re: Bryce Harper called up
Cole Hamels sounds like a girl when he talks, but I still want him on this team next year.
I hate the Phillies so much, I really hope the finish 4th or 5th this year.

Re: Bryce Harper called up
I actually like Hamels for pegging him, and admitting to it. He seemed like he did it more out of respect than anything else.

Re: Bryce Harper called up
From the comments I read, it was like "welcome, kid". And the fact the Hamels chuckled a bit about it coming back to bite him in the ass. I don't know, I don't think it's a huge deal and a sort of tip of the hat from a division rival.

Re: Bryce Harper called up
Yeah I saw that. Pierre was 5 feet from 3rd base and unleashed a throw like he was throwing someone out at the plate.

Kinda scary that the Nationals are taking the NL by storm with one of the worst offenses in the league.
And, they are talking about putting Wang in the rotation? They can't possibly be thinking of moving Detweiler. Maybe a hybrid 6 man rotation to alleviate the Strasburg innings limit?Fistpumping like a champion.
