Proposal for New "X" Subway Train to Yankee Stadium from Queens/Brooklyn
Good idea, hope they get this done one day...
Return of the three-borough 'X line' subway

“The X Line would connect all but three subway lines in the city and join Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx, which no other line does today,” said Stringer, speaking to a room full of New York establishment types at a breakfast hosted by the Association for a Better New York.
“Here’s why it’s not a pipe dream: The line is built entirely along existing rights of way,” said Stringer. “That means no tunneling, which is the biggest hurdle in this day and age to building new subways.”
Stringer’s championing of the X line took some transportation advocates (pleasantly) aback.

Great idea, but for a city that is border line bankrupt, where are they going to get the $$? Since there is no tunneling, they are going to build another el or use the existing track? When was the last time a new el line was built in NYC?
The second ave subway has been getting built for 40+yrs and still isnt done.

It will never happen. It duplicates existing (but round-about) service.
They'd be better off running load-and-go express buses from, say, the Stadium over the Triboro to Astoria Blvd / 31st St, down the service road and then down the BQE to the Woodside LIRR Station.
This would work after night games for sure... Maybe not so much before night game, with the PM rush hour and all...
Cheers!

A good part of that line is single track. Also the line is not electrified. Even without tunneling the cost of laying new track plus electrification plus building stations would probably be prohibitive for the city. That line also uses the "Hell Gate" bridge to enter the Bronx so that would cause issues with Amtrack.

Yeah lots of issues, but where there's a will there's a way. This train would connect the Bronx to Queens so if you live in Astoria or Woodside you can easily catch a Yankees game and shave more than half off your travel time. I also think they should extend the 7 train to Jersey, but that's a whole other issue

city and mta have enough issues with 2nd ave subway line, seriously doubt this happens
The real reason why the Yankees keep winning is cause the other team can't stop staring at the damn pinstripes

lol, except that ppl from Jersey would be coming from the opposite direction where the trains are empty. The 7 train goes to 33rd and 10th ave right now, with a new tunnel and some tracks in jersey they could extend to Secaucus junction and would make an easier trip to Metlife Stadium

Re: Proposal for New "X" Subway Train to Yankee Stadium from Queens/Brooklyn
Thinking of the way the MTA has treated the G train in recent years, I do not see this ever happening.
The only way this cuts travel time for Yankees fans is if they live along the service (or connecting service) in Queens, and/or if it stops at 61st/Woodside for connection to/from LIRR. Maybe northern Brooklyn if it transfers to J, M, Z, L, 2, 3, 5.
