Swish is currently on pace to drive in 216 runs.

    Carry on.

I'd take the over on that if they were facing that Sox pitching staff a few extra games this season.

I don't think it was in this thread, but right before the season, one of our fellow posters suggested that the Yanks should offer Swisher and prospects for Dom Brown.

Dude I do that trade in an instant. Dom Brown is a future beast. They'd have to add Bastardo. But I'd do it. You wouldn't?

More like IDKFA; he was showing off guns and launching bombs.

He had plenty of AMMO for that gun show. He had the KEYS to success.

Someone needs to give that Swish GIF this treatment:

I am so extremely happy that this guy is on the team. It's like he never grew up, so hilarious to watch. Look at him bouncing his way home from third when Teixera hits the GR double.

edit: Can be seen in its full glory at the very end of this clip: http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=20810105

I tell you what, if I was pitching on the Sox I wouldn't miss the next opportunity to put Swisher on his backside.... but the game is different these days.

Thank goodness! The game should be about fun, not macho hostility.

And give me a gentleman like Derek Jeter over Ty Cobb or Pete Rose (or Chad Curtis) any day.

Seconded. The whole retaliation mentality drives me nuts too.

Re: The Official 2012 Nick Swisher Performance Thread

If done the right way I see no problem with pitchers using intimidation on hitters as a psychological edge.

Some hitters do actually rise up to being brushed back and actually get mad and hit the ball even harder or have a even better AB's after the fact.

Guys like Barry Bonds and Gary Sheffield off the top of my head who if you tried that stuff on them it would most likely backfire in the sense of actually intimidating them.

Saying that love seeing Swish mash.

I wouldn't be surprised. If Ortiz did that we'd all be pissed.

Thirded..... If it worked, why do we keep seeing it?

Buster Olney commented this morning that when Swish first joined the team, some of the "old guard" didn't take to him well - the reserved, button-down collar, all business-no fun approach to the game was a stark contrast to him. I think Swish has been great. You need a guy like this to keep it fun and relaxed.....especially with the Yankees where the pressure to win and scuitiny is off-the-charts. Yes, players like Swish rub the opposition the wrong way, but if he's on your side, you love him. It's not an act with him; it's how he lives his life and it carries over to his job, which just happens to be getting paid a ton of money to play a game.

agreed. anyone would celebrate, but here it was a comeback of unique/historic proportions and swisher always wears it on his sleeve. boston has bigger fish to fry than plotting revenge vs swisher !!
