Re: 2012 Rafael Soriano Performance Thread
Crap happens. He's still got 92.3% SV%. (aka better than Mo's career average and all but 3 of Mo's seasons)

Soriano has filled Mo's shoes very well this season. Can't blame him for blowing one save.

Re: 2012 Rafael Soriano Performance Thread
I really believe that last nights loss just shows the lack of lights out relief, that we don't have. Yankees just don't have a a pitcher that can come in and blow away the sides, not one 95+ pitcher do we possess, still we can and have measured up...
Some of these young teams seem to have a game plan, and their main focus is to beat the Yankees when we come to town, meanwhile we know very little about these clubs.. It does seem like we're not totally focused, and that Joe has very little control over what his veteran players do on the mound, an at the plate..
Still I do realize that this is the Soriano thread, and that once he went 3-0 on smith I thought that he should have went ahead and walked him.. Once again the Yankees have made another manager look better then he really is...
Let me end by saying that Soriano looked like he hadn't pitched in a good while, and that it wouldn't hurt to visit the mound now and then to tell our pitcher what he might want to throw, or what not to throw...

Soriano has been lights out. D-Rob also. Too early to get too excited, but reports are VERY good on Joba. Aardsma is throwing again. And they have an outside shot at Mo returning.

We really needed that save, but it's hard to get too upset with Soriano given his performance overall.

Re: 2012 Rafael Soriano Performance Thread
He's been a savior, but boy does he come close to giving me a heart attack. Mo has his streaks where he gets in lots of jams too, but unlike Mo, Soriano doesn't seem to have that one pitch that gives batters fits. And of course, since becoming a Yankee, his velocity is down.
Can't complain though; I'd hate to think where we might be without him.

Grooves one to a dead-red fastball hitter with a terrible AVG.
