Re: 2012 Rafael Soriano Performance Thread
The only positive that may come out of the Mo injury is the fact that Soriano is now more likely to opt-out after the season.

Re: 2012 Rafael Soriano Performance Thread
Are you out of your gourd. He's going to turn down $14M?!?!?! You're a lunatic if you think he's not exercising that player option.
But at least he's pitching well right now. Isn't this why the Yanks signed him for? As insurance for catastrophic Mo injury?
Robertson should close but Soriano has just become a lot more important than he was yesterday.Baseball is life;
the rest is just details.

Re: 2012 Rafael Soriano Performance Thread
If he only knew how much most Yankee fans hate him, maybe he'd pitch even better! With having no fear of losing, I know it may not look like he cares, but I think he does...

Beckett got his fat contract. He doesn't have to care anymore.

Re: 2012 Rafael Soriano Performance Thread
You know what Mr C., It just seemed like he's (Beckett) been a thorn in our sides for a good long time, I should had looked it up I know. So that's my bad!! For some reason he took pitching against the Yanks pretty personal, or at least it seemed that way.
OH!! Lets not leave out Mr Bloody sock guy himself, Curt Schilling who seemed to have a personal vendetta against A-rod, mostly for his steroid use. Just killing Alex for it, meanwhile two of his team mates were dirty. Both getting a pass at first and neither being honest. Curt he hurt us with his pitching then rubbed it in!!

Going with Giggles. Knows the drill and looks comfortable in the role. I'd let him close, have D-Rob set up when he recovers.

Re: 2012 Rafael Soriano Performance Thread
If I recall correctly, Cashman said he was not against adding Soriano, but he did not agree with the contract to which he was signed.

Just think how big Randy Levine's head is right about now. We're so hosed.

Re: 2012 Rafael Soriano Performance Thread
I was thinking the same thing. DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED.
Also, I think the most cited reason publicly was that Cashman didn't want to sacrifice the draft pick for Soriano. And if I had to guess, probably because he feels sacrificing a draft pick for a player who he viewed wasn't a need and required a steep cost.
