And who catches if you DFA Martin? You want Stewart to catch every game?

    Agree with Wade and McDonald.

Stewart has been slightly better than Martin. So yes. He can catch. Call up Cisco Kid to backup.

Just definsively, do you guys think Chavez at 3B all game would have prevented runs? A few balls that passed Nix I feel Chavez could have had. Not to say Nix did bad, they were tough plays. Just had a feeling Chavez could have nabbed them.

    Je-

    Never mind.

They COULD call up Cervelli. He couldn't be worse than Martin at this point ... could he?

Hey, here's a weird coincidence ... the last time the Yankees committed five errors in a game was ... drum roll ... July 7, 2007.

EDIT: And amazingly, the final score was 2-1. Favor of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Or he might have thrown his back out and been useless to the Yankees for two months. And they probably would still have lost.

Well, there might be one additional option quite soon:
    http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseba...week-1.3823971
Austin Romine, who has not played this season because of a back injury, caught Chamberlain (simulated game) and could be ready for game action in the next week or so.

Damn. Always forget that Chavez's bones are made from raw noodles, glass and ancient Chinese pottery held together by chewing gum.

Well, shoot. They've changed the Nix error to a hit. So it was only a four-error night.

Lol-- how pissed would you be if you cut off your locks in order to play for the Yankees only to be DFA'd three days later?

I'd love to see his reaction if it happens.

They said on FOX that he cried when they made him shave and cut his hair. He probably knows that he's gonna get dumped in a couple days.

But now having played for the Yankees he can be invited back for OTD in the future after his career is over.

Maybe they'll even retire his jersey number & give him his own Yankeeography.

    Dassit.
Thanks, folks. I knew that I could count on my buddies.

Now if this team could somehow figure out a way to create runs. You know, bunting to 1B, double-steal, jumping around on base to distract the pitcher, long at-bats to hope for a WP. Heck, we can't even be patient when an 8.00 ERA pitcher is on the hill, so what do I know? Sheesh.

A couple of stats before they start tonight's game:
    http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/yan...ees-at-red-sox
    Power Time
The Yankees enter the final game before the All-Star break with 133 home runs. That’s one shy of the team record for most home runs prior to the break, 134, set in 2002.

The Yankees have scored at least four runs in 11 straight games against the Red Sox. If they can do it again Sunday night, they'll match the second-longest such streak against their rival in the Live Ball Era.

Going into the All Star Break:
    Best Record in MLB
    Largest lead in any division

Pretty impressive considering the number of major injuries this team has had to deal with right from the start of the season. Well done.
