I don't mind ESPN Sunday night as much as I used to, now that the announcing team is not completely infuriating. I don't like Hershiser, but Shulman is fine, and Francona, now that he's no longer the Sox manager, is actually quite pleasant to listen to.

Yeah I also dont mind ESPN anymore. It was awful with Morgan/Miller...and when Valentine was there it sucked.
But I dont have an issue with Shulman or Hershiser, and I actually like Francona alot so far.

I absolutely hate that camera angle they use for the first pitch of seemingly every at bat. ESPN uses it a lot more than YES or other broadcasts i watch
The camera looking at the pitcher from behind the catcher, where you cant see the batter/pitcher interaction, you know, only the single most important part of baseball. That camera angle should only be for analyzing a play after it happens

The first two Yankees hit home runs today, and according to the date given by http://yankees.lhblogs.com/2012/04/1...kees-vs-twins/ today's starter, Pavano, and the previous pitcher to allow home runs to the first two Yankees of a game, Ted Lilly, both made their MLB debuts with Montreal and later played for the Yankees.

Pavano never pitched like that for the Yanks in the 10 games in four years.

Losing to Pavano stinks.
David Ortiz tested positive for performance enhancing drugs in 2003.

I wasn't sure exactly where to put this but it definitely bears noting:

Here's to the anniversary of the beginning of Yankees' greatness!ON THIS DATE: On April 18, 1923, the orginal Yankee Stadium opened its doors for its inaugural game. The Yankees defeated Boston, 4-1, with Bob Shawkey picking up the win and Babe Ruth hitting the first home run in the new park, a three-run shot in the third.

Consistency breeds success. I sure wish the Stat Engineer would stop tinkering with the lineup like it's some design product on a production line. Just stop with the over managing. These are veteran players, not rookies. Trust them to do their jobs. Put Al in the 4 hole and leave him there. He's messing with his rhythm as well as Canos. JMO.

Re: 2012 General Yankee Comments Thread
If the team is this old and run down they need to rotate rest 2 weeks in, the Yankees are in trouble.
The manager really is out of control with his match ups. Eric Chavez is a former all star with pop in his bat. If you are pinch hitting for him , fine. But not for Eduardo Nunez over AROD. His best bullet on the bench and he managed to bat him down 2 leading off an inning in a tight ballgame

Re: 2012 General Yankee Comments Thread
Am i the only Yankees fan sick of other Yankees fans constantly bringing up Aj Burnett & Jesus Montero every time we lose? It's almost as if they're rooting for Kuroda & Pineda to fail.

Re: 2012 General Yankee Comments Thread
I am too. As good as Montero may be, the Yankees did not have a spot for him. They do not believe in him as a catcher, first base and DH are going to be clogged the next 5 years.
I know AJ put it together for the playoff game last year, to me that does not make up for the non competes he gave us in Fenway Park for 3 seasons, the "no hit stuff" that translated to 5 run innings in a flash, etc.
He came up big a couple times but I would not trust him with the season on the line in 2012.

Re: 2012 General Yankee Comments Thread
I think some Yankee fans who keep bringing up A.J. Burnett and Jesus Montero should root for the teams that those two are in this season.
If those fans don't have a patient bone in their body, then they shouldn't watch Hiroki Kuroda and Michael Pineda starting their games.
If they want to throw players under the bus, they should be ashamed of themselves. It's not the 27 World Championships that drive the New York Yankees. It's the 28th.
Every year is The Year. Go Yankees.
