Today the Yankees allowed 22 total bases but only 2 runs. The baseball-reference Play Index goes back to 1918 and this was the first time the Yankees have allowed that many total bases and that few runs in a game. It was the 11th time since 1918 a team has allowed at least 22 total bases and at most 2 runs.

Good win tonight Yankees. One more win and we get our first series win of this young season.

I really LOVE how our young pitchers have looked thus far.

Hughes and Nova looked very good IMO.

Agreed our young guys looked good and you have to figure cc will come around. Mo looked better in the 9th not that there was any doubt he wasn't going to.

The only concern I have is the Yankees hitting w/RISP.

They went 3 for 10 tonight. They gotta keep at that pace like tonight in order to go very far this season.

Yea the first 3 games we couldn't do that for s***. God forbid we hit a double with somebody on base, its very frustrating to watch. Hopefully we can stay in the groove.

I'm never concerned about our hitting. We only go as far as our pitching takes us. We'll hit.

    I agree with this 99%.

The other 1% wants the offense to bail the pitching out once in a while.
By tacking on runs with a lead and taking advantage of scoring opportunities.

Is the "shift" the new fad in baseball? I guess we are going to see it a few times a game.

Anyone else hear Singleton say that Hector Noeisi has been throwing for Seattle in the high 90's?

What was that big commotion about after the game? I fell asleep, Girardi was yelling at Andino then tehy went to a commercial.

Apparently Andino was signaling hitters from 2nd base that Rivera was going to throw cut fastballs....

You misunderstood. That was the number of runs he allowed last night.

Yeah, I heard that (only it was Kay that said it - not that it matters). And for the record, Noesi didn't come close to the high 90s against Texas last night. Most of his fastballs were around 92-93, a a few 94s, and one or two 95.

Has anyone had any insight to the issue when the game ended yesterday? I know Yes and the MLBN (from what I've seen) had no idea. Girardi said it was "boys being boys". I'm interested in why there was yelling and screaming and why Showalter had to push his players back and shut them up.

I guess thats good, that would suck if that had happened.

Russel suspected that Andino was giving signs/location to the hitter from 2nd base in the 9th. I think Russel said something and the chaos ensued.

I know. The best way to handle that is to call for an outside fastball and then actually throw it inside.
    And then..... do it again.

Yesterday the Yankees struck out 10 Orioles without a walk. Yankee pitchers had at least 10 strikeouts with 0 walks twice last season, once in 2010, and zero times in 2009. 11 of the last 14 times the Yankees didn't walk anybody were on the road.
