Re: 2012 Umpire Performance/Venting Thread
You can believe that I found a thread that I'll be visiting quite often, some of you already know how I feel about this necessary evil. Some fans don't want to believe that umpires are fans too, there's no proof of any wrong doing by them. Yet like any passionate fan their feelings could reflect in the ball and strike calls, or any close play but that's just the way that I see them.

Re: 2012 Umpire Performance/Venting Thread
The ump was squuzing the low strike last night with Robertson & Mo.

Re: 2012 Umpire Performance/Venting Thread
Yeah but Robertson also got some extremely generous calls against Markakis. Jim Palmer nearly messed his pants when Nick got rung up. Although I agree with the point he was making -- there is no accountability for umpires. Even with the ability to visually demonstrate how balls/strikes were missed, nothing ever happens to the umpires who perform poorly.

Can't believe that pitch to A-Rod was called a strike. Weiters did frame that beautifully even though he didn't intend to do so.

Re: 2012 Umpire Performance/Venting Thread
Strike 3 to A-Rod tonight was quite literally the worst strike call I've ever seen.

Re: 2012 Umpire Performance/Venting Thread
Yea i was hoping joe would at least get out there. I know every attempt ends up futile, but for one reason or another it always tends to pump the bats up a little bit, could have helped tex bring in the runner who knows.

Re: 2012 Umpire Performance/Venting Thread
Wieters making that great adjustment just fooled the ump into thinking that it was a strike. That being said, I guess that blown call made up for the blown call on Swisher who clearly swung on the HBP to start the inning.

Re: 2012 Umpire Performance/Venting Thread
That one was a tough one for the Umpire I'll cut the guy slack.
And Wieters wasn't trying to frame anything he was in fact trying to save his life because he was expecting a breaking ball and got a 97 MPH fastball instead.

Re: 2012 Umpire Performance/Venting Thread
How is the umpire thread being used to bash Joe?
The call was awful. Weiters pulled it back a mile and it still wasn't over the plate. No doubt that Welke will have hung his head when he saw it on the monitor.Bring tea for the Tillerman; Steak for the son; Wine for the woman
