Two great outings by Kuroda on this homestand and neither one gets him a victory.

Such a good signing. Well done Cash, good job. Wouldn't have a problem with bringing him back again next season on a one year deal, all being equal.

Re: 2012 Offense Performance Thread
The two active leaders in career runs, Jeter and Rodriguez, have not scored 3 runs in a game this season, but Gardner, Granderson, Teixeira, Cano, and Stewart have. Before he scored 3 runs today, Stewart had less than 2 percent of the career runs Jeter and Rodriguez have.

Re: 2012 Offense Performance Thread
They have five guys with an OPS+ over 110 (only one guy over 120). One of them is a part time player and the other is on the DL. They're still among the league leaders in most statistical offensive categories, but having one legit threat doesn't inspire much confidence in them doing anything in the playoffs.

0-11 in their last 11 1 or 2 run games. No suprise the lead is now down to 4 1/2 games.

Re: 2012 Offense Performance Thread
At least for me, losing these close 1-2 run games makes everything more frustrating because the games are right there for the taking, but we're just not making the plays necessary. All it takes is one big hit, one key pitch in big spot...and maybe we're 10-8 or 11-7 in our last 18 instead of 6-12.

I am 38 and cant remember the last time (outside of the crap late 80's early 90's teams) the Yanks couldnt get a hit with RISP.

Re: 2012 Offense Performance Thread
Oh they're definitely frustrating. It's just not the death knell that many are proclaiming it to be.
Same with walk off wins. '09 regular season was fun and exciting to watch, but that string of walk offs wasn't skill driven.
Remember too that close games can be a function of an improved defense. When this team scores 3 they're more likely to be close but behind late than some teams of recent years.

Re: 2012 Offense Performance Thread
I always wanted Chavez to be our third baseman when I first him play in Oakland. Given how well he can play D and hit when his body is this messed up, imagine the player he'd be had he never had back issues. Such a good player. Going forward, he is gonna be an important piece.

Thought I'd correct them before anyone had noticed.
