Re: 2012 David Robertson Performance Thread
if he was pitching like he was earlier in the season with a low pitch count per batter then he could start maybe. but if he's inefficient then it's no good
always reasonable

Re: 2012 David Robertson Performance Thread
I've been disappointed with Drob this season.
He has lacked consistency and walks too many.
I never thought he could be a closer and let's ask the Yankees to not consider him for that role. He just allows too many baserunners and does not do a smooth, clean, job.
I'd like to know why he has been relatively ineffective this season? Is his arm going, have teams scouted him?

Re: 2012 David Robertson Performance Thread
most mlb teams would happily take drob as the closer. this is fluky

Re: 2012 David Robertson Performance Thread
Well, if you consider that he put up a 1.08 ERA last year, he probably wasn't that extremely dominant and was surely to regress in some form this year.
Here are some other numbers according to Fangraphs:
K/9
2011 - 13.5
2012 - 11.9
BB/9
2011 - 4.73
2012 - 3.09
HR/9
2011 - 0.14
2012 - 0.89
(To put in perspective, the career low for Mariano Rivera was 0.23 back in 2005.)
BABIP
2011 - .289
2012 - .333
GB%
2011 - 46.3
2012 - 48.0
FIP (xFIP)
2011 - 1.84 (2.46)
2012 - 2.80 (2.77)
The numbers are not totally far off from last year. Perhaps Robertson's assertion is correct from last night that balls this year just happen to be "finding holes" compared to 2011.Saturday MLB on FOX blackouts - If you don't know how to spoof your IP address, you are missing out on the fun.

Re: 2012 David Robertson Performance Thread
So, I guess we're looking past the perfect 8th he threw last night and the fact that only one ball was hit hard in the 9th?
Robertson is not the reason the Yankees lost the game last night.David Ortiz tested positive for performance enhancing drugs in 2003.

Re: 2012 David Robertson Performance Thread
This team needs Robertson to excel just as it needs CC to excel. Inconsistency is not going to cut it the rest of the way.

Re: 2012 David Robertson Performance Thread
He did not get through that one without taxing the closer. He did not do his job today. He has to be consistently better if the Yankees are going to win their last game in the playoffs.
