Re: 2012 Joe Girardi Performance Thread
Absolutely terrible. It's the first game of the season. That was the epitome of overmanaging.

Re: 2012 Joe Girardi Performance Thread
That was officially terrible. Rodriguez is the second worst hitter on the team.

Unbelievable. It only took a half inning.

I just don't understand the purpose of walking a scrub to load the bases for a guy who has legit pop.

Re: 2012 Joe Girardi Performance Thread
Throughout his entire career, Pena has really hurt the Yankees with the longball and I just cannot believe that Joe did not want CC going after Rodriguez. Brutal

Re: 2012 Joe Girardi Performance Thread
Lets walk a guy who hits .230 to face a guy who's hit almost 50 HR in a season. What could possibly go wrong?

Not sure what annoyed me more....the decision to walk the "dangerous" Rodriguez, or the horrific pitch selection to Pena

Re: 2012 Joe Girardi Performance Thread
Hey, an inexplicably dumb move. Let's see how we can rationalize that one. In a sample of 30AB or so, the move looked genius! Sean Rodriguez has photos of Girardi. Pena was trying really hard to impress his team, how could anyone have known? Tampa Bay has different air that CC wasn't used to yet. Purplemonkeydishwasher
Piniella even called it stupid from the booth, lol.

Re: 2012 Joe Girardi Performance Thread
But shouldn't CC's first inning of the game be taken into account? CC was struggling with his command and he wasn't exactly getting easy outs. Not to mention that while Pena has not had success against CC, the success that he has had, has been with the HR and CC was given no room to fall behind with the bases loaded. Also, Rodriguez isn't any where near an offensive threat that Pena is.

Re: 2012 Joe Girardi Performance Thread
The thread's about Girardi and he hasn't done anything since the first. What do you want? Continued complaining so you can complain about that?

Re: 2012 Joe Girardi Performance Thread
It definitely warrants complaint. It was a stupid move on many levels which have been mentioned.
It will be torture when he faces Valentine and they try to out manage each other.Team Northern Lights
