It's a little too expressive for Soriano. Better just to stick with "Sory."

Pretty quite here considering he made his first major league start. 2 runs, 5 Ks, no walks in 4 innings. Not bad considering that he hasn't been stretched out as a starter.

I thought he did well, but not being stretched out didn't have much to do with being unable to go more than 4 innings. He was just uneconomical.

Overall, I liked what I saw.

Seems he hit a wall at about 75 pitches or so. I wonder if that is his limit for now, especially since he was pitching like once every 5-6 days for 2-4 innings during April.

recalled. Igarashi sent down. Guess Igarashi was here just for yestrday as emergency. Phelps was probably not available yesterday due to whenever his last MiLB start was.

I don't understand why he was called up if they wanted to stretch him out as a starter. His last outing (25th) was only 3.1IP & I think I read somewhere it was 50 pitches.

Unless he's taking Garcia's spot in the rotation?

My understanding is he's going back to long relief. He's here to spell Warren & Garcia if needed.

Igarashi was just here yesterday because the pen was thin with Pettitte leaving early.

Yeah I get why Igarashi was here, I just don't understand their handling of Phelps. They send him down to start then call him back up to be a long reliever?

Needs change. When he was sent down it was because he was getting sporadic use and they were going to strecth him out to be an option to start. Before they could stretch him out though they lost 2 starters and needed a long man.

Exactly my thought...Cashman should be fired because he didn't know he'd lose 2 starters withing a few hours. Thank God people on this board don't make decisions.

Right now, the Yankees don't know if Warren or Phelps is going to be able to step up and take one of those spots. Just in case Warren or Garcia bombs this weekend, they have Phelps available to absorb multiple innings. Cashman stated Phelps should be able to give them 70-75 pitches if need be.

I don't think that's fair with Phelps limited in the amount of pitches he could throw tonight.
