I'm doing a PowerPoint on the Dominican Republic for my Spanish class, and Robbie gets his own slide.
He's performing great in that slide."Never, never, never quit."-Winston Churchill.

Re: 2012 Robinson Cano performance thread
My wording and the emphasis on that word kind of left me open to your response and I actually thought of taking out the word "establishing" for that very reason but I thought the "Another year" to begin the statement made it ok.
But yes I would completely agree with your post.

Re: 2012 Robinson Cano performance thread
Just thought I'd bump this. Maybe Robbie will remind us today that he's still the team's best hitter.

Re: 2012 Robinson Cano performance thread
Seemed last night like he may be on the verge of breaking out of his funk. A hit down the line and another ball that he just missed putting in the right field bleachers.

Not that I love seeing Robbie swing at anything, but I mean really, he hit that double off a shoulder high ball? Crazy.

Re: 2012 Robinson Cano performance thread
Robby, please feel free to show up any time.
But seriously, am I alone in thinking that he's WAY out in front on almost every swing? It looks to me like his hips are spent early, causing his timing to be off.Yes, I'm a girl.

Re: 2012 Robinson Cano performance thread
It's not that I don't expect him to snap out of it, I was just speculating on the reason for it. It seems to me like he's simply not staying back on the ball, something that's more fixable by a hitting coach or a little extra BP than, say, a guy who's plate discipline is struggling or who's having trouble with breaking pitches or something.

Re: 2012 Robinson Cano performance thread
I think you're remiss in assuming that he's not working on it or that Kevin Long's not involved.Progress isn't always immediate or steady. I'm sure they're working on it. You can know you're doing something wrong, but muscle memory doesn't always immediately respond.
It's a 14-game slump. In the grand scheme of things, that's nothing. Cano is the least of my worries on this team.Rocking that "arrogant Yankee fan" attitude.

Re: 2012 Robinson Cano performance thread
Seems to be swinging at bad pitches more often
That seems to be his kryptonite
It's glaring now because I haven't seen this number of swings @ bad pitches for a while

Also, when he hits the ball hard it's right at someone.

Re: 2012 Robinson Cano performance thread
He and Curtis are our best all around players. Cano is our best hitter. I like him hitting fourth when Curtis hits second. It makes the lineup feel more threatening. I know why Joe puts Swish second against lefties so I'm not saying it should be changed.

Re: 2012 Robinson Cano performance thread
Cano, Tex and Grandy all had gotten into the habit of getting out in front. Tex and Grandy have apparently fixed it. Cano will figure it out. IMO, he's more of a "just go out there and play" guy than Grandy and Tex who seem to be more reflective and analytical.

Re: 2012 Robinson Cano performance thread
Yeah, but his BB rate is way up so far! He'll get locked into beast mode soon enough and we will forget all about this little slump. What's he at, .245 with 7 2b, 1 HR, and 3 rbi's?

Re: 2012 Robinson Cano performance thread
Quietly brought his average up ~30 points over the past week or so but still about 60 points short of where it should be. No real power either (8 2B, 1 HR) in +80 AB.
A fool and his money can throw one heck of a party!

Re: 2012 Robinson Cano performance thread
His plate discipline has actually improved vastly so far this year (admitted SSS). He's having a bit of bad luck though. He will straighten it out.

Re: 2012 Robinson Cano performance thread
And Teixeira is?
Non-performance is non-performance regardless of age.
Cano will eventually hit, but right now he is hurting the club a lot.
And, by the way, given the Yankee business plan, which requires having some older stars, like Jeter and Arod, I'm not sure someone who uses a disparaging term for older ball players should choose the Yankees as their team. It's up to you of course, but I'm just saying you might want to reconsider.
