He seems to be unhittable yet somehow walks the entire park. Weird.
40 pitchers, ever, have an ERA+ of 130 or higher for their career. 15 have 140 or higher. 3 guys have 150 or higher - one is right at 150, the second place guy is at 154, and Mariano Rivera is at 205.

Charlestown is disgusting on offense. Downright filth

Austin has to have the most helium in the minors right now, dude has been out of his mind

Tyler Austin just hit a Grand Slam & started singing "Just goin' balls deep on the league....." as he rounded the bases.

    (seriously, he hit another homer)

I know. I don't even get to make the ridiculous "I'd rather rush Campos than start Garcia" statement.

He read NYYFans and felt the pressure of suddenly being trade straight up for Montero.

After a bad first game, here are Pat Venditte's numbers from his last five AAA games:

    8 innings
4 hits (.148 opponents' batting average)
    0 runs
    4 walks
    8 strikeouts
    1-0 record
    1.00 WHIP
    2.00 K/BB

Getting back to talking about a real baseball prospect. I think Austin hit another 3-run dinger today in the first inning. Also, threw out a runner at 3rd. He keeps this up, he will be a top 100 prospect.

Austin needs to go to Tampa. This is getting ridiculous now. He's turning 21 this year so he is more than ready for high A. I expect him to be in Tampa somewhere in page 2 of the May 2012 thread.

His age has nothing to do with whether he's ready for high A ball or not.

Maybe, maybe not. But his 1.26OPS has a lot to do with him being unchallenged in the Sally League.

    Lighten up Francis.

Tell that to yourself. He still strikes out too much with not enough walks. There's more to being challenged than just the OPS numbers at this point in his career.

He doesn't turn 21 until September. So he could conceivably finish this season at High A which would have him on track to play in AA some time next season at age 21. So age is clearly not an issue and he absolutely should not be rushed.

Another good start for Brett Marshall. 7.2 innings, 2 runs 5 hits, no walks, 6 Ks. He gets better with each start.

i suspect that once he stops making consistent contact, he'll start walking more.. but right now, he's seeing the ball so well, it's understandable why he wouldn't let a few go by

    Austin
    1-3, BB

    Culver
    3-4, 2B
    (Last 10 games: .361BA, .465OBP, .528SLG, .993OPS)
I'm not a Culver fan but he does take his walks

    Bichette
    1-3, BB
