Re: April 2012 Minor League Thread
Betances got knocked around like a red-headed step child today. His next outing will be telling.

Per Baseball America, on new signee Edwin Beard.
A Yankees' July 2 sign in ’07, Edwin Beard spent three years in the Dominican Summer League prior to his release last May. Now he's back with the organization, with a tentative assignment to short-season Staten Island.

Re: April 2012 Minor League Thread
It's really simple.
He's not good enough to be a starter at the major league level in this organization.
I said as much in February.

I know the saving grace is that really tall pitchers have a tendency to develop later because of mechanics.
But let's be real Betances is probably going to end up being a relief pitcher.
Also Betances is not a legit mid to high 90's guy can we please stop perpetuating that scouting report.

Re: April 2012 Minor League Thread
I have an opinion.
Just like you have yours.
So your "it doesn't matter to you" statement is just words because we are both Yankee fans that both want to produce players that help the major league club.
We have a different opinion on Betances it's really no big deal, unless you decide to make it a big deal.

Re: April 2012 Minor League Thread
It's my opinion which you disagree with that's all it is.
No biggie.
People in our organization who have spots/shots in the rotation before Betances:
Sabathia
Kuroda
Hughes
Nova
Pineda
Phelps
Warren
Mitchell
Banuelos

Re: April 2012 Minor League Thread
I'm not arguing though.
I stated on the prospect section of a Yankee message board my opinion that Dellin Betances will highly likely not be a starting pitcher with the Yankees.
How is putting forth my opinion on a Yankee prospect in a prospect section of a Yankee forum and then defending my position when someone disagrees with it in any shape or form arguing?
I am not calling you names in fact on multiple occasions have said you are entitled to your opinion while I am entitled to mine.
In what world is discussing whether Betances is a starter or relief pitcher "inconsequential" discussion to a discussion on a Yankee prospect in the prospect section?

Nik Turley off to a good start this season. Hopefully, he remains healthy and effective so he can reach Trenton somtime mid-season.

Re: April 2012 Minor League Thread
I wouldn't even say that. it's kind of an old adage, where if scouts don't think a pitcher can make it as a SP then he's a RP.
Honestly though, who wants a relief pitcher than can't throw strikes? When do you bring that relief pitcher in? I don't want the guy that's brought in with a man on 1st and it becomes 1st and 2nd. Or the guy that lets the lead runner on.
I'd trade him in a heartbeat for a low level high upside bat.

Re: April 2012 Minor League Thread
Francisco Rondon- 7k's in 3IP. Um what?!?
40 pitchers, ever, have an ERA+ of 130 or higher for their career. 15 have 140 or higher. 3 guys have 150 or higher - one is right at 150, the second place guy is at 154, and Mariano Rivera is at 205.
