Re: The Official 2012 Watching The Scoreboard Thread
For the love of God, I hope the O's bring in the starter whose throw day it is. I have no faith in Chris Davis to hold this lead.

Re: The Official 2012 Watching The Scoreboard Thread
Bryce Harper living up to the hype. Looks to be a good game. Cole Hamels nailed him in the back on the first pitch, he eventually came around to steal home.

Re: The Official 2012 Watching The Scoreboard Thread
that was just dumb..hamels is an idiot:
"I was trying to hit him," the Philadelphia lefty said. "I'm not going to deny it."
Why, exactly?
"That's something I grew up watching, that's kind of what happened. So I'm just trying to continue the old baseball because I think some people are kind of getting away from it. I remember when I was a rookie the strike zone was really, really small and you didn't say anything because that's the way baseball is," Hamels said.
"But I think unfortunately the league's protecting certain players and making it not that old-school, prestigious way of baseball," he said.
In other words, Hamels said, "It's just, 'Welcome to the big leagues.' "

Re: The Official 2012 Watching The Scoreboard Thread
As I said on another thread, you don't get even for getting plunked by beaning one of the other team's hitters. You get even by stealing home, second or taking him deep the next AB. A 19 year old rookie just made a WS champion pitcher look like a complete idiot.....and then Hamels makes sure nobody sends him an application to join Mensa by admitting he did it on purpose.
It's a shame that fans who don't get to see the Nats weren't given one of their better games, but I think they made an impact anyway.
Werth will be out at least 6 weeks with a broken wrist. That was tough to watch.

Bard has given up 3 ER in 3 innings...I think Bob Lorenz just said he has 2 balks too.

I'm wondering why Punto went in at 3b for Middlebrooks in the second inning..injury?
