I agree that I don't see the fit, although I'd be surprised if he didn't clear waivers given that he's a 29 year old mL journeyman with a sub.700 OPS in mL and a .554 OPS at ML level.

Didn't most teams have a shot to claim him off waivers for nothing prior to the Yankees claiming him? I doubt he generates much interest even as a throw-in.

How about this scenario:

The Yanks tried to send him down and put him on the waiver wire.

The D'Backs, out of spite, reclaim him. (Not much love between Dbacks and Yanks.)

DBacks got him, but no room for him on the major. Tried to send him down.

Yanks claims him again off waiver.

On room on Yanks, they try to send him down.

And on, and on, and on...

Damn you're right. Well hopefully he doesn't check it because I think we could pry Konerko and Thornton away from them for Tatum and Ramiro Pena. I hope I didn't ruin it.
