Trading for Domonic Brown?
I've warmed up to the idea of letting Swisher walk and replacing him with something in-house or a cheaper/high-upside guy. Brown fits that role perfectly and it's obvious the Phillies have no interest in seeing him play as they just optioned him to mL camp.

Re: Trading for Domonic Brown?
yes please.
they do seem to hate him indeed. I'm sure Cashman will be all over this. Ramiro Pena, Austin Romine, and a trampoline should do it.the 1890's socialist Player's League, founded by workers:

Re: Trading for Domonic Brown?
I don't think it'd take that much. They clearly undervalue him. They wouldn't have signed both Hunter Pence and Laynce 1.5-million-dollar-man-per-year-for-two-years Nix if they didn't. They seem to value Mayberry more, strangely enough.
Anyone know if they plan to extend Victorino?the 1890's socialist Player's League, founded by workers:

Re: Trading for Domonic Brown?
Why did they trade Lee and then sign him to a $125M deal? Why did they have Howard a 5/125M deal with like 47 years left on his then current deal?

Re: Trading for Domonic Brown?
You never know...with what's going on with Utley (IIRC chronic Arthritis.)
Chase Utley rejoined the team after leaving Monday for Arizona to have a specialist examine his chronically injured knees. Utley has not played in a Grapefruit League game this month and has been unable to practice since late last month because of pain in his knees.
Utley said he will speak to reporters Sunday, so perhaps he will shed some light on his future then. But Utley is extraordinarily tight-lipped about his health, which is why the Phillies have been mostly mum about his status...
But it remains likely Utley will open the season on the disabled list, and Freddy Galvis will be the Opening Day second baseman.
Could get interesting, we'll see.

Re: Trading for Domonic Brown?
He was supposed to be the next big thing and he hasn't played to his potential (whatever that means). It wouldn't surprise me if he turns out to be a proverbial AAAA player, that is, one that always looks like the "next big thing" in the minors but flames out in the majors.

Re: Trading for Domonic Brown?
I like Brown. But the Yankees and the Phillies are not matched well. The Phillies probably want some good and ready hitting prospects in return. The Yankees have good hitting prospects, but all of them are not ready.

Re: Trading for Domonic Brown?
40 pitchers, ever, have an ERA+ of 130 or higher for their career. 15 have 140 or higher. 3 guys have 150 or higher - one is right at 150, the second place guy is at 154, and Mariano Rivera is at 205.

Re: Trading for Domonic Brown?
People can take a look at their farm. The last thing the Phillies want in return probably is pitching prospect unless the offer is overwhelmed.
EDIT: I mean "overwhelming".Last edited by kan_t; 03-24-12 at 11:50 PM.
