Re: Joba.... Dislocated ankle
"Resulted in an open flesh wound around the ankle." -ESPN
I'm no doctor, but I think it's a safe bet he's done for the year. So much for that insane bullpen.

Re: Joba.... Dislocated ankle
At least he didn't pull a Bobby Jenks or Matt Bush.

Re: Joba.... Dislocated ankle
Knowing how terrible the Yankees are at handling contracts, there is probably an injury bonus in store for Joba.

Re: Joba.... Dislocated ankle
I was really looking forward to seeing him come back and hush all the critics...oh well what can you do, here's hoping to a speedy recovery.
I'd like to thank the good Lord for making me a Yankee fan

Would never have happened if they left him in the bullpen.
Bad bad bad bad news. Joba is one of my favorites.

Re: Joba.... Dislocated ankle
Sad news - I thought maybe he'd be able to regain at least some of his former success. Between the injuries and questionable management of his career, we're probably never going to know how good he could have been.
September 28, 2008 - the day the HOF got a wake-up Moose call.

Re: Joba.... Dislocated ankle
Not a physician, but....How Long does a Compound Fracture take to Heal?
The healing time varies according to the severity of the fracture, and the health and age of the patient. The callus of healing bone usually can be seen on X-ray in about six weeks in adults, and earlier in children. However, this first mineralized bone is not as strong as mature bone, which slowly forms by a process of remodeling, which can take up to 18 months.
Usually, compound fractures take much longer to heal, due to the amount of injury that the bone and the surrounding tissue sustains, and also because of the higher rate of complications caused by non-union of the joints and infections.

Re: Joba.... Dislocated ankle
Daily news article said he lost so much blood it could have been life threatening
Also quotes a DR in that field saying it is a very dangerous injury which has resulted in amputation of the leg due to the open wound and breaking the skin envelope.
All in all, if he comes out of this able to walk, I would consider this a plus. Really don't think he will ever pitch again, and almost certainly not for us,

Re: Joba.... Dislocated ankle
Man this is heart-breaking. Really hope we'll see him pitch again one day.
"We understand that John Henry must be embarrassed, frustrated and disappointed by his failure in this transaction. Unlike the Yankees, he chose not to go the extra distance for his fans in Boston."
