Redshirt freshman (makes a difference, as he's eligible next year as a sophomore).

Supposedly Tom Gamble is the leading contender for GM.

Its an incredibly weak QB class.

It's just a weak class overall, especially on the offensive side.

I still have question about his deep throw and he's overrated IMO. Having Luke Joeckel and Jake Mathews as your tackles may make you look better than you actually are.

well that is to be expected after one of the best QB classes I can ever remember this season....RGIII, Luck, Russell Wilson, Tannehill, Weeden, Kirk Cousins...

They would have a point if this whole season's failure didn't revolve significantly around the question of whether or not Mark Sanchez should be the starting QB on this team. I mean, that's what it all boiled down to on a week-in, week-out basis, with Rex routinely refusing to answer specific questions about his decision making process, and using the boilerplate "Mark gives us the best chance to win" no matter how bad things got.

I'm somewhere in-between on my feelings, if the tattoo is in fact real (and the #6 is in reference to Sanchez). It's unquestionably shady, ,but I don't know that it's some sort of death knell to my opinion of his ability to be a quality NFL coach.
I think once he hitched his wagon to Sanchez he was going to stick with him no matter what, due to confidence for Sanchez sake, trust, and loyalty.

I do think that Ryan hates him now because of how he turned out.

Nobody ever discusses his arm strength. I think it's suspect.

That being said, I think he is the quickest most elusive QB I have ever seen in college, and I think he is able to get away with some of his floated passes because of it.

Mathieu should be drafted at some point. Improving the talent base should be the focus of the new GM and something that has been majorly overlooked by 95% of football fans due the the Ryan/Tebow circus.

Adam Schefter@AdamSchefter Seattle executive John Idzik has emerged as clear frontrunner to become Jets' new GM and could be offered the job as early as tonight.

    Manish Mehta ‏@MMehtaNYDN

John Idzik isn't a clone of Mike Tannenbaum. I was told that Idzik spent time this season on the college scouting trail. #nyj

Rhody has an uncontrollable need to bash the Jets whenever he can. Sometimes it's blatant but it's usually in TheoShmeo "I'm here for the conversation" fashion.

Good. Revis isn't going to do the Jets any financial favors so I prefer they deal him instead of committing an albatross of a contract to him.

Just wondering - what's the opinion of Ryan amongst Jets fans (as a head coach)? It seems as though everybody is getting blamed for the team's headaches except him for the most part. He doesn't appear to be what I would consider a standup guy, talks a tough game, but doesn't deliver. Did the FO make a mistake in retaining him and letting others walk?

When Rex came I thought he was great. Then he stuck with Schottenheimer and I thought he was going to go down with him and the Jets finally pushed out BS (two years too late). But he also stuck with Sanchez and he indeed went down with him in my mind. I don't have any confidence in him anymore to manage an entire football team, evaluate talent, or manage the game in terms of play clock management and offensive strategy. I still think the guy is a defensive genius and I love the swagger, but he doesn't have the chops to be a head coach and he hasn't improved. Ideally I'd like to see a professional head coach brought in and Rex downgraded to defensive coordinator with full authority on D game management & prep but not player signing

Thanks - your comments sound a lot like the complaints a few other Jets fans that I know have. The biggest issue for them, without a doubt, is sticking with Sanchez.

Not sure if the Jets should get him. The club needs locker room stability IMO. If the Lions released him, it means something.

Eh, as much of a circus that the Jets were, we were really a competent QB and healthy Revis/Holmes away from sneaking into the playoffs.

This team is going to need a major talent infusion to overcome our weakness, considering we are stuck with him for at least another year. Young would have been a nice, but not necessary addition.
