Re: 2012 New York Jets Thread
I had a dream last night in which the Giants beat the Jets in the Super Bowl, with Tebow as Jets QB.

Re: 2012 New York Jets Thread
That Landry pic is a fake. He has tats all over his arms.

Re: 2012 New York Jets Thread
Good call, but it's weird that he tweeted it out.
You can see the tattoos in another picture he tweeted.

EDIT: It looks like it's real, and the picture with no tats was taken in the mirror, so his left arm looks like his right. You can see he has not tats on his left arm in other pictures.

Re: 2012 New York Jets Thread
Jets Interested in Tebow
The team is concerned about the negative perception of its locker room, which was divided by player unrest last season, and "bringing in a guy like (Tebow) would help," one source said. "It makes perfect sense."
The Jets are also intrigued by what Tebow could do in the wildcat offense. New York's new offensive coordinator Tony Sparano introduced the wildcat to the NFL as coach of the Miami Dolphins. That, coupled with coach Rex Ryan's desire to be a power-running team, has fueled organizational discussion on Tebow.

Seriously.....this is like some kind of pre-April Fool's joke right?....RIGHT?

I love it if hes essentially an H-Back.
If hes a QB? No thanks, probably closer to "GTFO", actually.
If they can't close the deal, do they then tack on another year to Sanchez's extension?Last edited by Snatch Catch; 03-21-12 at 09:01 AM.

Awesome:

But the Jets also protected themselves in the event Landry's left heel -- which ended each of his past two seasons -- continues to be an issue.
The Jets signed Landry to a one-year deal with a maximum value of $3.5 million earlier this week. But half of that amount -- $1.75 million -- is tied up in a weekly roster bonus contingent on him being on the active 46-man roster, per a person with knowledge of the deal's specifics. That person requested anonymity because the team has not announced the terms of the deal.
Landry will earn a $700,000 base salary in 2012 that is fully guaranteed, and also received a $950,000 signing bonus and $100,000 workout bonus. That money totals to $1.75 million.
The rest of the money is in a $1.75 million roster bonus, paid out in sums of $109,375 for each game Landry suits up for.
This practice is not unheard of for players coming off injuries, because it encourages them to work to play each week. But having 50 percent of the money tied to him suiting up is a significant amount.

Re: 2012 New York Jets Thread
we'll win the headlines super bowl again. I guess Sparano might be the right coach for this since he and ronnie brown were the wildcat love pair. hard to say its not worth it for a 4th round pick, but i would be surprised if this results in the team being better

Re: 2012 New York Jets Thread
Probably. A 6'3 235 lb running back is always welcome in his system.
The thought of acquiring Tebow isn't irritating me as much as the fact that the Wildcat is back.
Do we really get comp picks for some of the FA's we lost last year? I read that somewhere, and if so, this trade doesn't bother me as much.

What a terrible move/idea. Created an instant QB mega-controversy for one. I do not like Tebow, for two. You're out of my avatar, Rex. This is the worst news since they invented polio.

Re: 2012 New York Jets Thread
The main thing we acquired though is extra fan discontent and crazy tebow devotee screaming (since they are probably more fans of tebow than they were of the broncos) when sanchez has a bad game. This probably won't help him have a comfortable year to come into his own, i cant imagine it will be any good for him

Re: 2012 New York Jets Thread
I love the move if he is an H-Back - even if they use him in the wildcat some.
I hate the move if he is a QB.
Basically, I hope they do the MLB draft thing and just declare an official position for him of RB or HB, even if they use him in wildcat sets, just to make everything crystal clear.

Re: 2012 New York Jets Thread
First give a big extension which the QB doesn't deserve, then put Tebow on the same team. The Jets front office is just asking for trouble and drama to themselves.
