For all we know, Tex could have been on steroids. His sharp decline the last few years has been suspicious.

Hmmm....got the big contract/payday, performance started to decline a year after, nagging injuries and ailments this year...interesting.

If what awy says is true. Theoritically, sone one can come up with a sugar pill like substance, call it steroids-like, without ever failing a drug test and improve players performance.

dont you think your Giambi vs Tex position is hypocritical given your Andy Pettitte hall of fame position? The HOF exists only to compare players to one another. As an admitted cheater, shouldn't Andy be kept out of the Hall?

I would say what Andy did was wrong, but not illegal. HGH was not banned in baseball when Andy used.

As for Tex, I think the biggest reason for the decline in his performance is the shift that he can't overcome and his obsession with the RF wall. His power numbers have never changed at any point in his career - it's his batting average and with it, his OBP that have tumbled.

I'm not sure why everyone is so fascinated with dissecting the "% of performance" that steroids is accountable for. If you believe Bonds started in '98, he was a great player on a HOF trajectory. As he aged, he became OTHER-WORLDLY. He had an isop of almost .300 at age 42. Instead of his performance tailing off post-peak, it ramped up significantly.

Seriously unsure of why you're on this campaign to try and discount the effect of steroids, particularly on the guy whose poster is hung up over your bed.

as for roids, it's a common mistake to attribute too much to roids. bonds is the poster boy for this phenomenon
