Re: 2012 Mark Teixeira Performance Thread
The Yankees really need for both Tex/Arod to show-up big for this series.

off to a great start. popping up a hanging slider that 70% of MLB hitters would have hit out of the park.

Re: 2012 Mark Teixeira Performance Thread
Props to Tex on his best playoff game in a while. Huge hit to tie the game up at 2.

Re: 2012 Mark Teixeira Performance Thread
so is 2-4 with a game-tying RBI single good enough for a start?

Nice game from Tex. Huge hit to tie the game and an outstanding scoop on Martin's great play that could have ended disastrously.

Re: 2012 Mark Teixeira Performance Thread
He tried to stretch to a double in order to protect his calf? and, no, the runner didn't go home. Swisher is not going to score from first base with one out on a laser hit off the right field wall. I don't understand how anybody thinks Swisher is going to advance three bases on a ball that Tex couldn't advance two bases on.
If it's a runner on second and third with nobody out in a close game and the hitter hits a fly ball to the outfield and it's borderline for the runner on thrid to score....THAT's a situation where the runner on second will give himself up and go to third, even if he's not likely to make it, because drawing a throw to third guarantees a runner scores.
Trying to stretch a single to a double with one out and a runner assuredly on third and getting thrown out by ten feet is not a good base running decision. Yes, it took a good throw, but that's not a valid reason. If you can't make it pretty much standing up, you don't go. A throw to second isn't 'out of the way' and if Swisher had tried to score on that, there could have been one of the most unconventional double plays you'll ever see.
