Re: 2012 Mark Teixeira Performance Thread
Apparently just went on a tirade against Padilla in the post-game.
"We understand that John Henry must be embarrassed, frustrated and disappointed by his failure in this transaction. Unlike the Yankees, he chose not to go the extra distance for his fans in Boston."

"The guy throws at people, ... In the NFL, he'd probably be suspended by Roger Goodell eight games, or a whole season but this is baseball.....
"There's only one guy in baseball. No one else does this," Teixeira said. "That's the thing that's unbelievable to me. No one else in baseball does this. Whether he's changed his ways, I hope he does, and that's great, because he's a good pitcher. The guy's got really good stuff and it'd be nice to talk to him as a baseball player, not someone who throws at people."He'll never get another milestone like that one. So what? His whole career is a milestone.

Re: 2012 Mark Teixeira Performance Thread
OK my friends I told some of you that almost overnight things can change in BB, that includes numbers only they take a little longer.. Mark is slowly proving to be the batter in our line-up that we want up when we really need a game changing hit.
No doubt that Cano may be better over all, but when we have to get it done I believe I'd pick Mark. Both Robinson and Mark are hitting well, I just wish that we could include Alex on this short list, but that's starting to look like wishful thinking.
Just to let you other fans know, both Jeter and Granderson also deserve mention along with a few others, still I do believe that Mark is a bit underrated an under appreciated. Just maybe when all is said and done his numbers will speak for them selves, but sometimes the numbers don't always tell the whole story...

"I just think he's scared to face me," Padilla said.
Yes, he looked really scared on that triple.
"The problem is he talks about all the wrong things that others have done, but the things he's done -- against the Latinos [on the Rangers] -- he doesn't open his mouth about," Padilla said.
So now he's also saying Teixeira is a racist? LOLYes, I'm a girl.

Re: 2012 Mark Teixeira Performance Thread
If Padilla really thinks that Tex needs to "man up" because he's afraid of getting hit by pitch, then I think pitchers should aim a couple of pitches at or around Padilla's head when he comes up to bat in an NL park.

There is something particularly ironic about alleging racism and backing it with overtly sexist comments.

IMO, Padilla should be suspended. He all but admitted through a sexist comment that he intentionally throws at batters.
It is time for MLB to adapt to what should be the standards of civilization of the 21st century.
If I owned the Red Sox, he would apologize or be released.

Re: 2012 Mark Teixeira Performance Thread
Full article is far more interesting. Here are some highlights:
http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/stor...er-women-sport
The problem is he talks about all the wrong things that others have done, but the things he's done -- against the Latinos (on the Texas Rangers) -- he doesn't open his mouth about," Padilla told the website. "He once threatened me and said he was going to hit me with a bat, and that's when we were playing on the same team."
In an interview Sunday with ESPN Deportes, Padilla expanded on his comments about the bat incident.
"We had some problems when we were teammates," Padilla told Deportes. "We used to be friends, but then there was this incident when I hit someone unintentionally and then he got hit and then he said he would retaliate and hit me with a bat and I guess it escalated from there."Teixeira went into more detail about his issues with Padilla in Texas.
"Michael Young and I were kind of the mainstays in Texas and had been there the longest," Teixeira said. "We hit 2-3 in the lineup, had really good years when we were there. The last straw when we were in Texas was when Michael Young got hit and they showed (Padilla) laughing on the bench. I think he got released that day. Michael Young is one of my best friends in baseball. So we obviously took exception every time we got hit because of his actions. That's putting our season and our team in jeopardy."
In his interview with Deportes, Padilla didn't back off his comments, which are demeaning to women athletes.
"We are all men here playing baseball," Padilla said. "We don't need no women playing baseball."Win one for The Boss.

I love sports but the fact that it makes millionaires out of slugs like Padilla is disappointing to say the least.
