How do you complain about the R, HR and RBI he produces? You can't.

Because again...we didnt not sign him just for that. Go look at his stat lines from 2004-09. Then compare them to 2010-11. Its easy to see why many of us are dissapointed, upset and frustrated. We thought we were gonna get several more years of 04-09 production out of him, after all he is in his prime years. Thats why the big contract was given to him. The guy was the total package pre-2010. Hit for average, high OBP and slugged. He is so far removed from that guy now.

I'm not exactly sure what this means. Are you saying Tex' production as a Yankee has been consistent with the level of his contract? Because I really don't see how anyone could say that it has, at least not in 2010 and 2011. 30+ home runs and 100 rbi's are big numbers, but there's more to generating offense than that, and while he used to do more than that, and was signed with the expectation that he'd continue to do more, he hasn't since 2009.

    That was raw.
40 pitchers, ever, have an ERA+ of 130 or higher for their career. 15 have 140 or higher. 3 guys have 150 or higher - one is right at 150, the second place guy is at 154, and Mariano Rivera is at 205.

(I wonder if this thread will be busy today)

I really like the way Tex swung last night along with the results.
He seems to be more balanced and swinging with more authority.
Now he needs to keep that progress going.

He's looking good, but all it will take is good pitch execution for his swing to look like swiss cheese again.

If he's hitting 275+ at the all star break with career-comparable power and run production, I think we can say he's living up to his 23 million dollar salary.

to be candid, I think Tex swings with authority virtually all the time. If he gets a hitter's pitch, he is among the best in the business in crushing it. And, as we saw last night, that's a big asset.

I'm more concerned about how he hits good pitching in times when they need a hit.

Even those most pessimistic about him (which I think I safely am), expect he'll hit over 30 home runs. That reason alone keeps him as a reasonable producer.

Tex has more HRS than Pujols right now.

Seriously, I have to rely on those of you who can view all the games. He looked great in the more recent few highlights I catch on ESPN - better than at this time last year, yes?

He's hitting solid line drives which is a plus. It's great to see him taking breaking pitches and not popping them up or pulling every fastball away into the shift.

He's much more balanced, not out on his front foot and his shoulders are much more level.
Line drive will start dropping in, especially if he keeps his hands back and hits the left-center to middle.....

Much to love about today's game (and yesterday's for that matter). Tex' opposite field 3R HR from the left side was sweet. It didn't look forced... pitch was up and out and he just put a good swing on it. Hoping for more of that.

He loves having monster games at Fenway; very reminiscent of his 3 HR performance in 2010. Long may it continue.

    Absolutely

IT probably would have been an out in a real ball park, but that swing was designed to go the other way. It looked like he was swing a bit more level also

    Good times
