Re: Fire sale vs Keep All
Fire sale done.
Interesting that the fire sale did not affect my GM rating, I am still at 68. Keeping all contracts and releasing those I did not want, would probably also affect my rating.

Yes, if you had not done the firesale and waived contracts you didn't want, your GM rating would have dropped 3 points for every contract you waived.

I think so too - although GM rating builds up again fairly quickly. But the firesale not impacting your GM rating is probably important for new owners coming in to a mis-managed team; having to start from a blank page AND having a disadvantage in the FAB would probably be quite a turn-off!

Re: Fire sale vs Keep All
Yeah, it builds up quickly -- esp now that I know how to avoid big negative hits to the rating...I think I was down in the 20s last year before I caught on...The $7.5m is the big thing. Plus I see how little money some teams have for the FAB, and I might get some of my released players back at a discount. We'll see.
So how do prospects work right now? If I click on a name it gets "added to list". How are they being picked up?

Re: Fire sale vs Keep All
Yeah, the FAB should be fascinating. With two fire sales, I think having 4-5 rounds is the right idea, because there's a lot of roster spaces to fill, but with no money, I'm going to be spectating most of the time! Unsure whether the big stars will still be subject of bidding wars, or whether we'll see some massive bargains.
By my rough calculations, there's around $410m going to be available during FAB bidding, as opposed to $1000m last year - that's if no-one else plumps for a fire sale as well. So - salary suppression, or bidding wars over the remaining star players?
Prospects can only be acquired:
a) through the draft in June
b) through trades
You're adding them to your queue for the June draft, or at least you should be. Check your Front Office/Prospects Draft Card. If you're signing prospects now, I want in!
Be seeing you,

Re: Fire sale vs Keep All
The only reason I even considered opting for a firesale was because of the lack of money most teams (mine included) have available for the FAB. I think you're right Sax that some superstars will be had at great value, which should make the league even more competitive this season than it was last year.

$560m already committed to contracts
$440m available to spend. But nearly half ($200m) is by two teams: The New Style and Farging Iceholes.

E, if you see a transaction where a player goes from Prosp to...[team name] that's just showing that said team is signing a prospect (drafted last season) to their active roster.

Re: Fire sale vs Keep All
OK, cool.
Hopefully that takes care of all my questions...at least this year I have a better handle on the FAB process.
