I'm not really sure what my avatar has to do with Phil Hughes, but okay, lol. I'll check out those videos later.

As for Hughes, I think this season will really be what defines his future as a Yankee. As of now, he's probably expendable and will be shopped during the offseason.

I'm not comparing them as pitchers. Just showing how soft your argument is. It's basically just a string of unfounded statements like "it wouldn't have ended well in New York" because he's a "meh pitcher". Sorry, even with only 2 yearss of absolute evidence, calling a guy with 150 era+ ability "meh" is ridiculous.

I don't think it's dumb. I never think of any signing as just a one thing. I always whine of the whole contract and I'm fed up of us signing guys we regret a year or so later and we'd regret CJ.

Nothing has been working for him, his FB was sitting right in the middle of the zone an I think that even more then being flat his location was just way off, and his off speed stuff wasn't working at all. Hopefully his velocity will keep climbing, and just maybe he'll control his pitches, in an out an up and down not down the middle, because that's how a good major league pitcher would pitch (control).

Also it is troublesome that when he is ahead in the count that it's either fouled off a dozen times, or it's hit really hard. He's a likable kid with a pretty good arm, but our patience with him is turning into years.. I'm just hoping that his next outing is something to build off.

I looked at his charts for the game. He had seven pitches middle-middle; six fastballs, one changeup.

Of those seven pitches, four were fouled off, two were swinging strikes, and one was put in play for a hit (the Iannetta cheapie). There's plenty you can blame his poor start on, but I'm not sure it was throwing his fastball for meatballs.

The Kendrick homer was low and inside; the Pujols was on the outer third and up at the eyes.

He could well be, and as a Hughes fan and defender, I truly hope you are bright. Nevertheless, he is now running out of starts to keep himself in the rotation given the options we have.

I don't know if Hughes will turn it around, but right now the choice as to which two pitchers will leave the rotation when Pettitte and Pineda return is a very easy one.

At this point Hughes is not competing with Garcia. He's competing with Pettitte and Pineda.

Pettitte yes, Pineda not yet.

But when Pettitte is deemed ready it will be Hughes or Garcia that gets bumped.

Pindea will take a few weeks to build up arm strength.
