Re: 2012 Alex Rodriguez Performance Thread
7th inning 2 outs, score tied, runners on 2nd and 3rd. ARod K's. He K's again in the 9th with 2 on and none out.
I'd rather have Swisher batting 3rd and put ARod between Tex and Granderson

Re: 2012 Alex Rodriguez Performance Thread
I think everyone had a hit except for A-rod, sure he scored after walking, but he did not even make contact with the ball last night. He needs to be dropped in the line-up.

Re: 2012 Alex Rodriguez Performance Thread
this is a tough one. obviously the lineup last nite would have been better w cano hitting third and a rod hitting around 7 or even 8. but it's hard to see it happening, and let's assume G is not feeling any pressure from above to not throw in the towel on our $300MM man.
the lineup was notably weaker without a rod after he went down with the broken hand. so i think it's not just a knee-jerk vet loyalty or org face-saving move -- i think G actually thinks a rod has something left in the tank and wants to give him a real shot.
one Q for me is whether he just wore down a little bit playing too much w Nix out and w the tight race down the stretch ?? so i would play Nix at third tonite vs LHP and DH a rod, where his numbers seem to be much better. so i'm pretty well conflicted on this one, but still think i'd give a rod a little more time in the heart of the order.
just think how bad CC and cano looked when they were scuffling. i guess the Q is, does a rod have a rebound left in him this yr ?? I'm not expecting 2009, but i also don't expect the no contact 3 K suckitude to be the norm. starting small, a rod has pretty good SSS numbers vs chen (1.159 OPS over 9 PAs), so i'd leave him in there as DH tonite and hope for the best.

Hoping he can light up against Chen tonight.

Re: 2012 Alex Rodriguez Performance Thread
Over the season, he hit .307/.371/.467 as DH, .258/.348/.416 at 3B. It's a difference, to be sure, but not a huge one. Considering that that was compiled in only 170 PA as DH and is now being applied over a short series, I think the noise would drown out any legitimate inference.
In September, Rodriguez hit .214/.281/.339 as DH.A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines.- Barry Manilow

Re: 2012 Alex Rodriguez Performance Thread
Yeah, and did you listen to the post game saying A-rod had some good At bats? I said maybe the walk but he had a Hat Trick, and this is not Hockey, lol. He just looked lost at the plate.
Giradi needs to Bat Arod 6th or even 7th at this point. Likely will never happen though.

Nah, that wasn't me. I did say that he still had one of the most smoothest swings in baseball though.

Re: 2012 Alex Rodriguez Performance Thread
A-Rod has the 4th best OBP on the team. I don't know how far down you want him to bat. I'd rather have him get on base in front of Cano, regardless of what his power is like these days.
A couple of days ago everyone wanted Teixeira moved down. You have to go by season numbers over that of one game.27 World Championships

Re: 2012 Alex Rodriguez Performance Thread
Good thing we only still owe him $29 Million in 2013, $26 Million in 2014, $22 Million in 2015, $21 Million in 2016, and $21 Million in 2017[/QUOTE]
If he hits 18 HRs next year, that's $1.6 mil a HR. Nice pay !

Re: 2012 Alex Rodriguez Performance Thread
I agree
people get too emotional about A-Rod. he had a bad game last night.
even so, he's gona be in the middle of the order, like it or not
he may not be hitting for power lately, but he still has a great batter's eye, works the count, and gets on base
Am I disappointed in his performance lately? Yes. But this is Alex Rodriguez, he's not batting in the bottom of the order no matter how hard people wish for it....not gona happen. period.RIP MR. STEINBRENNER

He's not wrong though. Cano should be hitting third.
