You do realize that Jeff Keppinger, despite being Jeff Keppinger, has been well above average this year, right?

If it makes you feel any better Gehrig did it in about 1500 less plate appearances.

If I've done my math correctly, when Gehrig retired he was #2 in career HR.

    That's OK.
Sounding off with those funny horns for the entire game is strange to us Americans....

There's nothing more annoying then the "Ole" chant that seems to be popular everywhere but here in the US

That's a South African thing you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who isn't from there that like the bloody things. Over here we prefer to sing songs about our favourite players. Which I guess I'm just used to

You need to go to a football game when a team is winning by a large margin in the dying few minutes and the home crowd is chanting "ole" when the opposition can't touch the ball. It's incredibly fun.

Was good to see, even though ultimately they let the game slip away anyway.

It has been so frustrating to watch him in big spots this year. Seems like he can't decide if he wants to be aggressive or patient, which leads to him swinging at terrible pitches in hitters counts, or taking pitches that catch the heart of the zone in pitchers counts. Too much soft contact as well.

Having a hard time adjusting I guess to the new reality that A-Rod is unlikely, outside of small bursts, to be a force in the lineup. I always lean optimistic, but have found myself entirely too pessimistic when A-Rod digs in. Hopefully he can stay healthy and go on a 60 day binge.

If he keeps hitting, Girardi is gonna have to start calling "AL" AROD

It's amazing that even at his age he still has one of the most smoothest swings in baseball.

Not sure if it's a trick of the eyes or whatever, but I've always thought the sweetest swings in the game are from the left-handed hitters. I can't think of any right-handed hitter, even A-Rod, whose swing looks as good as that of Strawberry, Griffey, or Cano in their respective primes.

When A-Rod's not right, he seems to guess and some of his swings look pretty bad. But when he's on like he is right now, he makes it look easy to get those arms extended and square up the ball.

    ARod's definitely still guessing.

He's getting better at it too.

A-Rod has always been a guess hitter imo. My theory is in the past he had the bat speed and strength to make up for a pitch he may have guessed wrong on and was still able to put the ball in play, while now that's not really the case. He's probably cheaing/starting his swing a little earlier these days, so when he guesses wrong, it looks a lot uglier. However, when he does guess right, he still mashes. /professional opinion

Yeah, I think he's heating up. Either that, or he has some great warning track power.
