Please please please please please team him with Paul O'Neill whenever possible. That will be fun.

I would assume that Jack Curry fills that role.

Completely different role. Jack Curry is a reporter, of sorts. Kim Jones was a babe. I hate to say it, and I wish it weren't so, but that was her primary function.

Lou should be entertaining. He was a fun player to watch....kind of a right-hand version of Paul O'Neill - very intense, put out 100% all the time, had a lot of timely big hits.
    Let the kids play.

Agree, plus the crowd had a lot of fun with the "Louuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu....." call whenever he was at bat or did something nice in the field.

I'm enjoying Lou's first ST game in the broadcast booth this afternoon.

We'll all get our first chance to hear this combination on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. when the Yankees play the Red Sox in a Spring Training match-up.
I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Loved Lou as a player, but I don't think his talents are well suited for this position.

There is skill involved and to me he comes across as boring

Yeah, he had some good insight at times, but he just doesn't have the "flow" of game broadcasting down yet. I'm sure he'll get better though.

I think he said as much as well! Which was funny.

I enjoyed listening to him today too.

Lou should have Norm Charlton show up and hit Paul for old times sake

So did I, even if he did refer to both Tino Martinez and Mariano Rivera as "young men."

I didn't know people actually cared about the announcers who they were/what they said till I started posting on forums.

When I watch games I personally could care less who is announcing.

But I could see how some people do care.

Re: Lou Piniella to join YES Network

One thing I really liked was Lou would stop talking as the pitch was delivered to see if a play would develop. I bet that was driving MK crazy. I am sure YES will train him to ignore the game like all the other commentators tend to do.

I thought Lou Piniella's greatest moment as a Yankee was when he tried to beat up the San Diego Chicken. They should bring the Chicken to Old Timer's Day and try to recreate the magic.
Rocking that "arrogant Yankee fan" attitude.

I liked the part about him having Paul wear high heels to work on his hitting....

Still think he's a net negative

To me, Cone is the best balance between game analysis and locker room stories

I think insight should be valued over shtick.

Chris Collingworth is an example of the type of insight that makes him one of the best sportscasters out there

Oneill & Pinella were ok last night, once theyve done a few games together it should get interesting.

I would have figured that any friction between them would have come out at the beginning. As time goes on they'll be more comfortable together, and we'll just be left with the fact that O'Neill is a terrible broadcaster.
