Agree, I also think that Ibanez is far from a lock. It will come down to a battle between him and Russell Branyan in ST.

Branyan will never make it out of SWB. If Ibanez can't cut it, and I think he will, the Yankees might give Jorge Vazquez (now with SWB) a shot. He has tremendous power numbers and had an awesome winter league season

I agree --- I think this is the oppportunity for Cabral (or Rapada) to show they can be effective LOOGY's -- unless they are awful in ST

Well Cabral either makes the 25-man or he becomes a free agent, so they may, in fact, keep him and extend him a month or so into the season. I don't know if the Yankees have options left on Wade whereby he could start the season in SWB.

I hope Branyan is given a good long look; he can bring a lot of thunder to the Yankee line-up if you catch him a hot streak, like during a late season run. But if they want a 5th outfielder then Branyan has little chance of sticking.

kinda sucks cause I wanted Bill Hall and Russel Branyan to get real shots at making the team but with Ibanez and Chavez looks like the only way they make the team is via injury.

I think Kuroda is slotted #2 over Nova simply due to veteran status but I'd imagine he and Nova could flip slots mid season and the 5th spot is Hughes to lose, though I'd prefer Garcia in that 5th slot to be honest simply cause you know what you'll get and Hughes was lights out in the pen in 2009

I was worried about this when Brian signed him!! He was our best weapon when he pitched for BoSox. I just don't think he has the composure for games on the line. And New York is more intense. If Joe goes to Decarmen we may see Joe sitting across from Terry on ESPN. Let put that kid we got from Pittsburg and see how he does.

It wouldn't be a stretch for Chavez to not make it out of camp without getting hurt, in which case I think Hall has a shot.
