I should say nothing Jeter does surprises me anymore, but I sure didn't expect to see him tearing it up in April. He looks so relaxed at the plate it's scary.
Seemed like all his hits (well, not that infield nubber) yesterday were just flicks of the bat head at the ball. He knows exactly where its going. Its fun to watch

Four more hits tonight. I can't get too excited though, with Mo hurt and all...

quip of the nite (needed it) from David Cone: ........ well, Jeter was slumping, his average dipped to .398, but it's probably back over .400 with that hit ........ !!! .........

Not including his four HRs, he's been on base 48 times in 105 ABs. If someone actually made contact behind him in the lineup, he might have more than 14 runs scored.

Jeter has to cut down on these strikeouts: 4 in past 3 games; 10 in last 10.

Batting average and OBP fell tonight. Perhaps a better performance tomorrow.

Who in here thinks Derek Jeter can finish the season with a batting average over .400? It hasn't been done since Ted Williams did it in '41.

It would seal his legend like nothing else at this stage in his career could.

But I don't think you can talk seriously about such a thing until at least the All-Star Break, maybe even August.

Trade him while his value is high.

Isn't he? He just steers it in the direction he wants it to go.

Example of why you don't automatically say PED when a player plays well at his 37,38.

He's hurting RHP, but LHP stands no chance against Jeter right now.

His OBP is less than his BA?

Sacrifices count against your OBP but not against your BA.

Vs left handed pitchers, Jeter has 38 plate appearances, 36 at bats, 1 walk, and 1 sac fly. He's 21/36 batting, but 22/38 in getting on base (21 hits, 1 walk).
