... but they come in such small samples it's very hard to put much stock in them. There are also other factors involved in baserunning stats. It's been a while since I looked at them, but I recall Jeter was middle of the pack in taking extra bases. That could be related to stadium dimensions in NYS & OYS or even the fact the Yanks O is so good Jeter doesn't gamble in certain situations.

Re: 2012 Derek Jeter Performance Thread
When a runner peaks to home, it usually means it was a hit and run. They need to see what happened. If they didn't look, it was most likely a straight steal attempt from the runner.
Jeter was definitely going cause the hit and run was on. His jump was terrible.
Runners should look at the third base coach and/or the ball like Jeter did. It was a good play and solid base running for sure. Not many players stay at second on that play, however. You know they are not real pies, right?

Re: 2012 Derek Jeter Performance Thread
With his 36th hit, Jeter set a new personal-best for most hits in the month of April, with one game to go.

Re: 2012 Derek Jeter Performance Thread
well, for his career he is underrated, except by a certain segment of yankees fans.
maybe the past 2 seasons he had some real issues to deal with. jeter usually keeps these things to himself and you gotta give him credit for it.always reasonable

Re: 2012 Derek Jeter Performance Thread
I didn't think we'd be able to talk about Jeter passing Gwynn, Yount, Waner, and Brett until the end of May or beginning of June.
But here he is, closing in on them. Careful gentlemen, objects in the rear view mirror are closer than they appear:
Brett: 3154
Waner: 3152
Yount: 3142
Gwynn: 3141
Jeter: 3128
If he stays healthy, he could pass Cal Ripken, Jr. (3184) by the beginning of July.

Re: 2012 Derek Jeter Performance Thread
Jeter's next double will be his 500th for his HOF career.
He will be the 55th person to his 500 or more doubles in their career. Only 14 people have gotten to 600.
The Yankee record for career doubles is 534 by Lou Gehrig. Jeter is on a pace to break that this season, though early 2013 is more likely.
