It is for one year, but you are talking about over a 20 plus year span. That's also including 5 years where Henderson was under 1; take those out (which is fair since we're including the very last years of his career and not jeters) and it's more like 1.5 WAR per year difference. Henderson averaged 7 WAR a year between 1980 and 1994; Jeter's topped 7, twice. There's really no comparison.

Yes, Henderson's peak years were clearly and significantly better than Jeter's peak years. No doubt.

what were his peak years then? I see it as a 14 season stretch from 80-94. This is Jeter's 17th season.

this is no slight on Jeter who is probably one of the 50 greatest players ever and is the best story of the current season.

My wife's cousin was at my house last night and we were talking about how incredibly hot his start has been.

I love the fact that he's hitting like a madman. The naysayers even had me believing for a little bit that he was finished.

It's been awesome to watch, and I hope it's foreshadowing a nice, sustainable return for Jeter. If he can even approximate his career production, he's a huge asset to this team offensively. Of course, if he could sustain his 185 OPS+...

Bonds pre steroids numbers are up there with Mays, Mantle and Aaron.

Aaron from first full year till age 35 season 1954-1969 .938 OPS

Mantle first full year till age 35 season 1952-1967 .997 OPS

Mays first full year till age 35 season 1954-1966 .992 OPS

Bonds first full year 1987 till 1998 season .981 OPS

Bonds started juicing in 1999 according to game of shadows because of the attention McGwire and Sosa got for the 1998 HR chase.

From 1999-2007 which was when Bonds was on the juice his OPS was 1.217

Let's not lose perspective of how great Barry Bonds was pre steroids because he was still great he just became Babe Ruth like post steroids.
