Doesn't Sandoval have a hit in each game so far?

Sandoval is also better than Jeter.

um that one is not hard. the harder one is subjective aesthetics or whatever involved in determining whether records achieved in an easier age is as great as records in a harder era

What an elite base runner Jeter is. Amazing 9th inning.

No hits for Jeter in tonight's game and yet he manages to put himself right in the thick of it. He's just a joy to watch.

He advanced on two wild pitches, the second one he said he couldn't see and just went because A-Rod said to.

I agree he's an excellent base runner, but I don't think he did anything special tonight.

Stop talking about intangibles. Did he get a hit or not tonight?

He went from first to third on the walk/wild pitch. He decided to steal, and it was heads up base running by going to third.

No. Thankfully, this is not the 2012 Derek Jeter Hit Thread.

    Can you prove that statistically?

Actually in the previous pitch he decided to run too. It might just be a hit and run in full count.

I think most guys would have went to third in the same situation-- the ball went almost to the dugout. I'm pretty sure Fielder wound up getting to it first.

Perhaps, but many still would have stood at second, or slid into second without keeping their eye on the ball.

That's not true. Everyone looks in in that situation in case the batter makes contact or walks.

Yeah, that makes zero sense. Players go from 1st to 3rd on hit-and-runs because they are watching the batter when he hits it

I've seen runners not look. It was heads up base running, you can say it.

Like Jace said-- you look in to go first to third on a single.

It's not that difficult a concept.

The entire point of a hit and run is to go 1st to 3rd or score on a double, which the runner obviously has to look to do. Its a completely normal play, you can say it

Haha, we are all happy they won, and Jeter's baserunning was good. But it was just normal good, it was the pitcher's wildness that made the real difference

I can agree that it was normal good. It sure wasn't Damon's stealing two bases in the playoffs.

The other poster met more common ground by saying it was a good base running, but just normal good. From there, I went with the compromise and agreed.

I said that he may have been the best player I ever saw, not just of the past 20 years and Iam 38. Bonds was a joke, besides Babe Ruth was the best ever.
