Re: 2012 Raul Ibanez Performance Thread
thought I would never say this but Raul seems to have found a spot and is coming on strong

Re: 2012 Raul Ibanez Performance Thread
I'd like to withdraw every stupid thing I said about not keeping Ibanez in the off season.
I actually said we should cut Ibanez and keep Maxwell

Re: 2012 Raul Ibanez Performance Thread
He's too much!! 30 hits, 27 RBI, like 1/10th of his hits are homers.
Nickname him Clutch already
He'll never get another milestone like that one. So what? His whole career is a milestone.

Re: 2012 Raul Ibanez Performance Thread
I take back all the things I said about Ibanez being washed up. I though he was Randy Winn version 2.0

Re: 2012 Raul Ibanez Performance Thread
Who would have thought that Ibanez would be the least of our problems offensively in 2012. The guy is doing pretty much exactly what he was signed to do.
David Ortiz tested positive for performance enhancing drugs in 2003.

Low/no scoring game so far -- he's due tonight.
Oh almost forgot -- happy birthday to him
Edit: Jinxed him

Re: 2012 Raul Ibanez Performance Thread
Timely hits aside, he hasn't been hitting.
A .295 OBP. RC+ 95 isn't acceptable for a DH.
Jim Thome would have been a great replacement, but that ship has sailed.

Re: 2012 Raul Ibanez Performance Thread
Jack Cust would be a solid in-house replacement for Ibanez.

Re: 2012 Raul Ibanez Performance Thread
Cust and Branyan are both mashing in AAA. Surprised neither has gotten a callup.

Re: 2012 Raul Ibanez Performance Thread
Assuming both Branyan and Cust will flame out like they always have, suppose we engage Theo in a discussion about what it would take to bring Soriano back as our DH.

Re: 2012 Raul Ibanez Performance Thread
I just want to make the simple point that you cannot compare Ibanez with Branyan or Cust without also comparing their defensive positions, especially with Gardner still out.
With Freddie starting for Andy, the Yankees clearly need the 12 pitchers, which means defensive roles have to be considered for the other 13.
