Her name is Meredith Marakovits. It's not that hard to spell.
More on Swisher. Guess what? He's excited:

SEATTLE -- Yankees outfielder Nick Swisher is hoping that manager Joe Girardi will clear him to return to the lineup on Friday, when the team hosts the Red Sox for the opener of a three-game series. And if not?
"We're going to fist-fight," Swisher said, with a laugh. "I feel good. I've done everything they've told me to do."
Swisher has been sidelined since Friday in Oakland by a mild strain of his left hip flexor, and while Girardi has been more conservative with the switch-hitter's timetable, Swisher reported no problems after running in the outfield at Safeco Field on Wednesday.
He also took batting-practice swings in the cage and will do so again with hitting coach Kevin Long on Thursday, as well as run the bases at Yankee Stadium.
"I'll be able to take as many swings as I want and be able to do everything," Swisher said. "I'm excited."

Re: The Injury Update Thread 2012
Updates from Cashman on A-Rod, Swisher and Joba, via Chad Jennings and LoHud:
• Alex Rodriguez saw Dr. Christopher Ahmad today and had a cast put on his broken left hand. The Yankees believe he’ll be out eight weeks at the most. Cashman wouldn’t give a best-case scenario, but eight weeks sounds like the far end of the spectrum.
• Nick Swisher ran and took batting practice today, but Cashman said he won’t play tomorrow night’s series opener against the Red Sox. Sounds like he came through everything just fine, the Yankees are just being cautious (given their injury luck this season, it’s hard to blame them).
• Joba Chamberlain will throw a bullpen for the big league staff tomorrow, but he will not be activated. He will instead make another rehab appearance on Sunday.

Re: The Injury Update Thread 2012
In the postgame show, Girardi said that Chavez "stiffened up" a bit after he got back to the clubhouse, so they will have to wait and see how he feels tomorrow.

Re: The Injury Update Thread 2012
Chavez is now saying that his leg is "fine, a lot better than it looks." "It's just a bruise and it got me in a good spot, making it tough for me to walk. But they just put the wrap on there to make sure it doesn't swell up and go into my foot." He isn't scheduled to play tomorrow or Sunday anyway, with lefties starting. "So if there is a good time to get hit, I guess it was a good time."

I thought Swisher was supposed to be back today. Any update on his condition?

Yankees right fielder Nick Swisher will miss his seventh straight game on Saturday afternoon with a strained left hip flexor.
“We talked and (manager Joe Girardi) decided one extra day would be best,” said Swisher, who said he thought on Friday he’d be back in the lineup on Saturday afternoon. “I just don’t want to go backwards.”
Swisher said he feels good, and will be available to pinch hit against the Red Sox if need be.

Re: The Injury Update Thread 2012
As for Chavez, evidently he is OK, as he PH for Nix in the seventh inning and is now in the game at 3B.

Re: The Injury Update Thread 2012
^ And he struck out. But he says he feels fine ... expects to be in the lineup and in the field tomorrow. But Joe will have the last word.
Also no link, as I saw it in the YES postgame show.

Re: The Injury Update Thread 2012
Bad news for Andy...
http://riveraveblues.com/2012/07/and...e-rehab-72994/Via George King and Ken Davidoff, left-hander Andy Pettitte has suffered a setback during his rehab from the broken ankle. Pettitte said he “did a little too much in Seattle,” and the ankle “hasn’t healed up as much as (the doctors) thought it would.” There wasn’t as much progress made during weeks 2-4 as there was in weeks 1-2, so for now they’re just going to back off a bit and “take it easy.”
Pettitte, now 40, was expected to miss approximately two months after a one-hop ground ball fractured his left ankle. That put him on target to return in early-September, so any kind of delay will put his return to the team in jeopardy, at least for the regular season. He’d obviously need some time to shake the rust off after coming back.
